Visconti Van Gogh Mini

Visconti Van Gogh Mini and Midi are no longer in production.

 

This is one my regularly used pens, i can keep it in my pant pocket because of the reliable screw on cap. The design of the Van Gogh and the colour choices are brilliant, I can see myself buying all the colours.

 

Things I really liked about this pen:

 

-Screw on cap

-Design, nib pattern, body, and spring loaded clip

-Nice looking nib

 

Things that could have been the reason for the pen to be out of production:

 

-SMOOTH nib for the first couple of months but due to my regular use and... my "trust" in the company's quailty which lead to me to think I didn't need to clean the pen as often as the others.... The pen now has a little bit of coarse feel when i write with it. The iridium didn't last on my steel nib and i also noticed a little bit of corrosion near the feeder area.

-Body gets scratched from the thread of the cap

-Also has some flow issues with the F nib.

 

This is a nice looking pen, but it will only get the job done not really a performance achiever.

 

For those who have this pen, I highly advise to clean the pen at least twice a month and keep in mind this review only apply to Visconti Van Gogh mini and midi steel nib.

I would like the tortoise shell as my final Van Gogh.Maybe i can find a used one someday.

 

As for the bad points listed:I have not had any of the above problems.Two of mine are steel nibs and one is the 14ct gold.Maybe i have been quite a fortunate fellow.Have had these now for 6months on the blue and almost a year on the other two.Maybe time will reveal the problems.Thanks for the tips.
