Modern Skyline Question

Hello all,

I have come across a modern Eversharp Skyline that there is not a lot of information if any.

I have read the Pen Hero article on the subject, but no mention of my model that I have at all.

Under special edition for the WW ll model it states that it is cap and barrel is both metal, so I’m at a loss.

The pen in question has an 18kt nib.

Please let me know your thoughts.

I think you have one of the more recent replica pens manufactured in France after the license had been acquired. I don't know of any vintage Skyline that uses a converter, but I certainly could be wrong

Yes, that's the reissue from the '90s. Produced for a short time, something to do with keeping the trademark alive. You might find details in the Parker Pen history of that time.

I had one, can't remember if I sold it or gave it to someone. Probably a better pen than the originals, but I felt a little magic in my old ones. I do still have the matching rollerball in the original blue fuzzy box.

Hello, yes you are both correct, this is a reissue in the 90s. Not sure of the production (blue with metal cap) that is quite heavy compared to the 1940s issue.

In the article at Pen Hero it states everything except this one.

Thanks

I think this one was a temporary (legal) solution to keeping the trademark. After producing a certain number of these, the name/company just disappeared again.

I remember them in blue, black, or maroon, with gold, silver or matching colored caps. And there was a special yellow taxi model that came with a little car.

Here is a recent classified from Manupens (Emmanuel), I think he now owns the trademark:

Well not actually. From recent correspondence, we have learned the manufacture of the "modern Skylines" and the name Eversharp thereon was entered into on the assumption the Eversharp name was up for grabs at least in Europe. That company secured trademark rights in France, and Switzerland and went into production. The Modern Skyline maker was quite surprised to find that at a pen show where the modern Skylines were being shown in the early nineties that there was another booth at the show with the name Eversharp. Turns out the Eversharp name was (through an interesting series of events and transactions assigned to the Astro Pen Company who also was involved with the Fisher Space pen, sold it to what is today the Eversharp Products Inc. The current company does not and never did make the Skylines, and it is today the maker of antimicrobial products and for about 10 years continued to make pens for commercial purposes: see here:

Eversharp Products, Inc Home Page

It is reported that the true Eversharp successor known today as the Eversharp Products Inc, agreed to allow (not dispute) the activities of the Modern Skyline company as they were not in competition with them, This is a real brief synopsis. If you search this firm you will find the longer history.

The pens shown in the classified belong to the Modern Eversharp creator.

So do you know what he is going to do now?

Thank you for all the information.

Still looking for the meat and potatoes on this pen, Does anyone know what the cap is made out of. It is quite heavy for a pen cap. I'm wondering if it is a silveplate, just not sure.

Looking over the add I do not see a solid blue barrel with the cap, so is it safe to say that this is a WF4S, clearly not a demonstrator model. Was this it for the total line? If it was then a variant maybe. With that add all I can say is A+ Fred. Gets me in the ballpark.

Tagging onto this question, has anyone bought the new Skylines that were on FPN recently? I ask since I've agreed to buy one myself though any reports on them would be welcome. Thanks.
