Here's one I forgot about - Pelikan P390. Nice little slim pen, good writer, in silver plate. I paid $45, and you can find them all day long for $100 or less.

I couldn't agree more... this is a great slim pen, with really good balance and I thought surprising weight for it's size. Mine is currently loaded with Iroshizuku syo-ro, love that color!

this one looks nice. it reminds me of my Waterman Exclusive. very good pen, but toooooooo slim, IMO.

I made it through the list and no one mentioned Elysee. Truly lovely pens with many different finishes and fine writers.

+1 on the Elysee.

I have an unexpensive one with a gold plated steel nib and it's such a smooth writer. It has a metal barrel so it's not too light and well balanced. Takes international cartridges which I refill with a syringe. Paid about 30€ for mine. :happyberet:

I thought my Lamy Logo was the perfect slim pen, but it has just been pipped at the post by the Parker 95 I got yesterday. I can see it living in my handbag frm now on.

Top to bottom for size comparison: Lamy Safari, Parker 95, Lamy Logo.

I have a Waterman C/F, chrome plated moire, made in France in 1971. Bought it on a whim, and have never regretted it. I have had the same brand of ink in that pen for 9 straight months, refilled it probably a dozen times. It never fails me. It's finally balanced. Writes perfectly. Doesn't cramp up my hand. Designed by Harley Earl in the 1950s.

In addition to some of the wonderful pens mentioned, I'd put that at the top of the list.

I have a Rotring Esprit that is made of aluminium with a very smooth medium nib. It takes international cartridges or a converter and is very light-weight even when the cap is posted on the end of the barrel. This is a nice everyday pen you can carry along and don`t need to worry if it gets lost - there are still plenty of them around and they are fairly cheap. I got mine for about 15$, that`s cheaper than a Safari.

Hi Sunrise

This is a completely off-topic reply, but I just wanted to say I love that catpicture you have as Avatar.

Apart from the pens mentioned that I agree with (too many to name) a few more from the bottom end of the OP's range spring to mind. The Reform 1745 is an excellent, slim and dirt cheap piston filler. The Waterman Hemisphere is a slimline version of the Expert, which I've noticed that a few people on here much prefer to the Expert, and which came in some gorgeous finishes. The Rotring 700 would cost a bit more than either of those, but is a slim, nicely balanced and striking pen that can hopefully be found for under $150.

In my opinion from the current production models Sailor Chalana must me hard to beat for slimness.

Followed by Cross Spire & Lamy CP1.

From the ones I have personally experienced I just adored Sheaffer Targa Slim.

But, allow for some more girth & Mont Blanc 144 is the best combo of form & function.Great Nib.

Add to that the lightness, balance & the brand prestige. This 144 is very popular in India

among who can afford a Mont Blanc.

Of my first 144 only 14K nib is still with me. The 2nd one in 18K Pix is still used daily after

repairing the leaky nib-holder with M-seal & Superglue(Indian Feviquick). Writes like new in

it's 6th year.

Hello Sunrise, I am looking for some Rotring Esprit's for my family who fell in love with it the moment they saw it.

I live in Hong Kong and wanted to know where you got yours from? (In Germany I presume?)

Thanks in advance!

Oh, to add my vote to the question...my favorite is the Rotring Esprit. (Slim fountain pen and all-around pen!)
