What Is Your Favorite Slim Pen?

The Noodler's Piston Pen (flex or standard) paired with a Knox K26 nib is an excellent option at under $25. Good quality material, screw on cap with a good clip, piston filling, ebonite feed for easy flow adjusting, and the Knox nibs are just amazingly smooth.

Admittedly, this is on cheapie end of the spectrum, but I recently got a Baoer 801, and am *delighted* with it. I have tiny hands also, and it's a good fit.

Parker Vectors are also very slimline in body, but I tend to have trouble with their flow. The Baoer starts instantly even if I haven't used it in several days; it's a blue-frost barrel so I have loaded it with PR American Blue.

Cross "Signature" series. Not in production, check ebay or the Cross forum here.

I agree that probably changing your grip would be best. Fatigue often originates in a cramped grip. Many people hold fountainpens like ballpointpens.

Search this forum for Deathgrip, one of our members has written about that several times (Bo Bo Olsen, along with others)

For a current production slim pen have a look at the Cross Spire series. I have seen many offers on the Cross website lately... You can order direct from Cross if you have no store near you. Punctual service.

Several others were mentioned above. I recently bought a nice Parker 45 flighter set. Because of a special nib it was more expensive, but I have seen them around 20-25 GBP lately.

Sheaffer Targas are nice too. I don't have the slim version myself (only in BP).

Happy hunting

The Parker 25 is a slim, inexpensive school pen.

Montblanc 342: the star's version of an entry-level pen. May push your budget.

Or, jump into the Wayback Machine: Waterman 52. Minimalist before it was minimal, lever filler, and an outstanding array of nib choices.

Yes, I know it's old, but with appropriate care your grandchildren will end up with your pen.

What is your favorite slim pen?

Pens that I've considered so far: Pilot Custom 74, Platinum Modern Maki-e, Lamy 2000.

those are not slim pens

I have to agree with three of the pens already mentioned. Sheaffer Targa slim, Esterbrook LJ, and Waterman Laureate. All can be had for reasonable prices and, generally, write quite nicely. The Esterbrook has the potential advantage of easily changed nibs. I have all three and do not have a clear favorite. Good luck in your search.

Lamy 2000 not so much, as pointed out earlier. I wasn't considering super slim pens though. There have been some recommendations that are truly slim.

What is your favorite slim pen?

My favorites:

The Aurora Hastil

The Aurora Kona

Montblanc Noblesse

Montblanc Slimline

Lamy CP50

Lamy CP1 black

I'm a fan of slim pens but I was not familiar with the Hastil or Kona. Based on your note and the fact that I have more than one version of the other pens on your list, I did a little digging to find out about the Auroras. My reaction to the Hastil: wow! So much so that I bought one from a seller on eBay. I'm looking forward to its arrival. Thanks for the recommendation (and to the others for their seconds of the recommendation).

Story has it that it was the success of Aurora Hastil which prompted MB to commission Aurora to make a slim pen for them, that is how the Slim series of MB (Slimline - Noblesse - Noblesse Oblige) came into being. The first was an Aurora design the later two MB designs.

Yard O Led and CdA too have beautiful models in thin - never wrote with one though.

I am not a thin pen person and my favourites in the category as mentioned above are Cross Classic Century and Pelikan P381, but if ever an opportunity presented itself (for a good deal) I may be tempted to buy (for my collection only) a MB Noblesse Oblige in all gold or Gold cap and blue marble body - beauties if there ever were any.

Enjoy your pens

Have a nice day

Here's one I forgot about - Pelikan P390. Nice little slim pen, good writer, in silver plate. I paid $45, and you can find them all day long for $100 or less.

I would suggest that you check the handmade Deccan fountain pens at www.fountainpenrevolution.com. (no affiliation, just a satisfied customer) They are quite inexpensive and several models are very slim.

I generally have somewhat thicker pens but I absolutely adore my Faber Castell Ambition in brushed aluminum.

Pelikan P390 in Silver and P391 in Gold are the same pen as P381 Classic with precious metal finishes.

There was possibly an earlier model too P370? But I am not sure about that.

Enjoy your pens

For me it would be my Estie J pens. That's as thin as I can go and still be comfortable.

I use a Sheaffer Slim Targa frequently and love it. It's elegant and has a very nice balance. Sheaffer also made a "Fashion" pen that was similar in size but has a different nib, and was maybe slightly lighter than the Targa. Either one is frequently available on eBay, and usually way under your budget. Both are smooth, dependable writers. As mentioned in another post, get one with a converter... the slim cartridges are hard to find. Good luck... there are so many pens out there, you will surely find one that is a perfect fit.
