Any ideas for a desk pen holder?

Just curious -- what do people use to keep and protect pens on their desks?

Clear transparent pen pot by Palaset rocks my world! There is no need to take pen out from it in order to adore that pen.

i kinda liked seeing the 45 on jd's stand...

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm -- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

Update: received the revolving cabinet yesterday I mentioned a few posts back and it's pretty cool. Glass would've been nicer than plexi, but the way it's set up, would've also been FAR more prone to break. Hard to believe you can get 57 pens into this, but you can! It works well and looks nice. You can stand about 18 vertically, and there are divided drawers for the rest. It's not Reed & Barton, granted, but the price is way less, too...

Here's the ebay link. These folks couldn''t have been nicer to deal with, BTW (no affiliation, just a satisfied customer)...

If you have a lot of pens in use at once and don't mind them rubbing houlders, you can make classy looking holder from a antique pipe tobaco humidor.

They normally hae a barrel shape in nice dark wood, often with a brass crest on them and a ceramic liner. Just stash the lid in a drawer.

You can do the same thing with a straight sided biscuit barrel. In fact you often see biscuit barrels advertised as humidors.

I use a 10 pen wood carousel (has a mechanism like a lazy Susan in it).  It holds 10 pens and takes up very little space.  I bought it from Bill on PT who makes them (excellent work).

Here is my Bill Jackman Creation - an 18-pen wood carousel-- I LOVE IT! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

OK-- this is going to sound cheesy.

A transparent plastic coffee mug.

What's so cheesy about it? It was given to me by a drug rep.

Yep, my pens are in a Viagra transparent plastic coffee cup.

At home, I have a mug from I Love A Mystery, a mystery-themed bookstore in the Kansas City area. At work, I use a mug from the LITTLE ALEINN, a little bar turned UFO interest center near Area 88. ph34r.gif

Urm...

I presume the pens in there have absolutely no problems keeping their nibs firmly pointed straight up?

I store the pens I'm using horizontally in a nice little pen case from E-Bay - a glass lid on top and a drawer beneath. It holds a total of 24 pens. Pens I'm not using are cleaned and stored in two glass frogs.

I like horizontal storage for pens I'm using because some of my pens are slow starters if they are stored vertically. I like the frogs for pens that are not in use because - if I'm not going to use a pen - I want to be able to enjoy looking at it. biggrin.gif

I know some will think I'm backwards, and say that pens in use should be stored vertically, but I've never had any problems storing them horizontally.

So many pens, so little time!

I'm with you, Judy. I store my pens in one of 2 horizontal storage cabinets (which I got from Michael's craft store for $11.99 each). The pens I'm carrying go in my Piquadro, nib up.

Not at all. In fact, I'm thinking of putting a flex nib pen in there to see what happens to the nib...

(chuckle) No, I mean the muuuuch more secret Area 88! They specialize in muffin propelled lawn mowers, or so rumor has it. I suspect much more sinister researches, but you know those rumor mongers...

Or it could be a Windows Moment in the old frontal lobes. These seem to be happening with disturbing regularity on work days.rolleyes.gif
