Lamy Safari Colours

really? 2014 pink is this year's color?

It was explained on this thread, Lamy Safari 2014? https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/256777-lamy-safari-2014/

That the pink with black x cap is, now, a regular issue, part of the basic line of blue, red, yellow, black, white and matte charcoal.

In Lamy Germany, English language site, I saw that a rollerball, pencil and ballpoint have been issued in the same color, as it is customary for Lamy Safari standard colors.

The blue-green Al Star has been released but, I couldn't find any information about the 2014 Limited Edition Safari color.

I went to the Paperworld website, an office supply fair in Frankfurt, where the yearly Safari Limited Edition is usually unveiled.

The Paperworld website was confusing and I could not find Lamy as an exhibitor.

I went to various blogs related to office supplies, writing instruments... no news about the Safari 2014 color.

On the FPN thread I listed, twdpens said:" Lamy has not revealed its 2014 Safari colour yet. Source: Lamy sales employees (who didn't know either)."

The new Lamy Nexx color is the only one shown on the Lamy Germany, English language website.

I do not see the blue-green 2014 Al Star on that website, I first saw it on the "Lamy Safari 2014?" thread, linked above.

I have been following those threads as well. Doesn't Lamy usually announce their new limited color by this time?

Lamy usually annouces the new colors at the Paperworld fair, as I mentioned above.

This year, the announcements have been a little, lets say scattered, instead of a big one with all the new or limited edition colors coming out together and posted on the English language Lamy Germany website.

I just went to the Lamy store yesterday day and say quite a few discontinued colours that have been mentioned. Also, I don't know if they still make those, but I also saw a Dialog 1 for sale.

I love the new neon coral color and can't wait for it to be available!

I stumbled upon this beauty on Rakuten: http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/the-article/item/l19wred/And I am very very tempted to get it. But, the descriptions on Rakuten are often more confusing than helpful... It says Lamy Joy, but the pics clearly suggest a Safari model. Can someone ID this Pen? Is this a real limited edition Safari or in fact a Joy?

This looks like the Japanese special version of Lamy Safari. The Japanese text under the pen clearly reads "Lamy Safari", so I guess they just got the English description wrong. It was initially (2010) made in 1000 numbered items and later (2013) in a non-limited version with plain cap, to which batch this one seems to belong.

Thanks, that helped a lot! I guess some Japanese Safari will be on it's way soon ;)

I recently posted a picture of most of my Lamy collection on Instagram. Missing is the Lamy AlStar in Graphite.

The pen tray is from Montblanc (Mr. Pentulant found on eBay) and the pen holder is from MrMikeDudek / Dudek Modern Goods. (No affiliation - love what he does - here's a link https://clickypost.squarespace.com/the-store-1/ )

Have you bought from that site before? If so, how was the experience? I ask because I would love a white/red clip safari (only recently started collecting safaris).

And the two images above...ahh, wonderful! :)

Sorry, was not on FPN for some time and did not see your question. I have bought via Rakuten previously and it was always perfect. Of course, it depends on the seller. Rakuten works like ebay or Amazon Marketplace - you are buying from different vendors, Rakuten provides only the "frame" (sorry, don't find a better word) of the shopping platform.

So, is this one of the originals? reissue? or made of parts? What is a Union Pay card?

I quote Ogawas answer:

I also don't know what UnionPay is, but I found another vendor who accepts Paypal. Unfortunately some unforeseen circumstances forbid me buying fountain pens from the other end of the world, at least for now *sigh*.

You guys are putting my Safari collection to shame! Such a great thread. Safari's are the perfect pen in my opinion.

We all start somewhere, and then again, many people here have been collecting pens for many, many years.

So what have you got?

Wow I'm amazed by the collections above! :yikes: I wish I could have something like that one day. As for me, I've just started with my first Lamy Safari Charcoal Matte which to my disappointment doesn't seem to be writing well. But, that's a story for another day. Even if my first pen is not writing well, there's something about these pens that doesn't let me give up.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
