My Lamy Christmas present was a few days late from South Korea...

Very cool... and beautiful wrapping.

I have to admit I'm a bit lost on all the minor variants - clip color/country SEs/dot vs. cross cap, etc. Is this the same as the white with red clip that came from Taiwan in numbered and unnumbered versions? Red dot cap button?

Otherwise I recognize them all except the red with yellow clip. What is the origin of that one?

Thanks for sharing and happy new year!

Woody, the white and red is one of the unnumbered Japan editions commissioned for the thirtieth anniversary of the Safari line. I mentioned South Korea above because that's where the eBay seller was.

steelblood is right, the red with yellow is the "China" model released earlier this year; it came from one of the usual eBay sellers, but I haven't seen it listed for cheap since I got mine!

And steelblood, I've seen some of your fun eBay listings the last few months! Keep me in mind if you come across a terracotta...

ETA: Happy New Year, Safari friends!

I saw the orange Safari, and I said to myself, "I have to find one of those". Our company color is orange, and I thought an orange Safari sticking out of my pocket would be a nice touch.

Went to eBay and found a few....FOR $90 to $150 DOLLARS. My goodness, you Safari people are crazy. :roflmho:

Yeah, I was annoyed when I saw that too. I only 'discovered' the orange model last week, and I can't help but want one. Ah well. At least I have a green 2012 LE on order. And there's a few other colors that I want too.

It might be cheaper to just have your company change its color to red or yellow. :)

Hi guys, I have seen a red safari with black clip and a yellow safari with black clip for sale for £20 each is this a good price? I seem to have got a bit obsessed with Safari's after receiving a red one with silver clip for Christmas and then adding an apple green one recently!!

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to FPN. The black clip models have been discontinued for a few years. £20 seems fair--I've seen them go for higher and lower (mostly higher on eBay).

There's not been a purple Lamy yet, has there? Does lamy issue a special color every year? I see that one year it was orange and another it was pink. I just have an al-star but I'd go for a safari if there was a purple one. That is if the price is not overly inflated because of a limited run or something. :D

In Australia the Purple Al-Star is marketed Shiraz and I've also seen it called Black Purple too.

Its apparent colour can be heavily influenced by the ambient lighting.

I have the purple al-star and it's looking more purple these days but when I first got it it looked more burgandy red than purple. It's rather shiny so I can see that light does influence the color.

You're really a SAFARI Fans!!!! :notworthy1:

With all those Lamys, methinks you should help me complete my collection. :roflmho: Been looking for the lime and orange Safaris (chrome clip) for weeks now, but I can't seem to decide on a price I'm willing to pay.

I've been out of the fountain pen loop for about three years already, and I missed out on a lot. But I was still able to find the Pink, the Aquamarine, and the 2012 Green.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
