Depending on whether you like modern or vintage FP's there are a couple of stores of note for modern FP's.

1. La Maison Ogilvy- 1307 Ste Catherine Street West(514-842-0136).

2. La Boutique de Stylo, Promenade Level Simons Complex Rue St. Catherine

3. L'essence du Papier- 4160 Rue St. Denis

4. PapeterieCasse Noisette- 445 St. Sulpice(Old Montreal).

Three differnet areas of town. If Your focus is on Vintage FP's then you have to rummage through a whole lot of shops anywhere and everywhere.

Have fun in Montreal.

I will also add Papeterie Nota-Bene, 3416 avenue du Parc (just off Sherbrooke St) and a 10-minute walk from La Boutique du Stylo in downtown. You'll find some inks, Lamys and Kawecos there in addition to other writing tools, but you go there for the stationery: huge Rhodia collection, Field Notes, Clairefontaine, Whitelines, Canteo notebooks (whatever is remaining since it got discontinued), and more. Excellent customer service too.

There is also Stylo.ca in the tunnels under Sainte-Catherine street.

Stylo.ca

Carrefour Industrielle Alliance (Niveau Métro #104)

977, rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest

Montréal (Québec) Canada H3B 4W3

For vintage pens, there are tons of antique shops in old Montreal that are worth a look.

IMHO, the most interesting stores are :

  1. La boutique du stylo in the underground shopping center, behind the Simmon's, 977, St-Catherine West.
  2. L'essence du papier, at Place Ville-Marie
  3. There is also a small men store that sells cigars, razors and fountain pens : Vasco Cigars, 1327, St-Catherine West

If you are searching for MontBlanc, Dunhill, Montegrappa, Graf Von Faber Castell, etc. you can go to Bijouterie Turcot in the Marriott Hotel next to Place Bonaventure. He has amazing deals. Cheapest in the whole island of Montreal. Excellent customer service too.

Just wanted to add my $0.02, for anyone else searching for this topic:

1. Heartily agree with Papeterie Nota Bene! We happened upon this shop just by accident, and was amazed at the paper selection! They also carry an unusual comprehensive mechanical pencil selection in addition to the fountain pens mentioned above. Also carries a great selection of Japanese paper. Really wonderful customer service and extremely knowledgable, friendly staff.

2. I also happened upon Stylo in Niveau metro Simons (Part of the underground city--I was honestly a bit disoriented so I hope I have that right. The address on the receipt is 977 STE-CATHERINE H3B4W3 MONTREAL QC. They have an excellent range of stuff from very high end all the way to disposable ball points with everything in between. They also add a one year warranty to any purchase free of charge.

Can't wait to go back! Too bad paper is so heavy to travel with--would have bought more ;)

Vasco and Essence de papier on StDenis are closed. The best place is still La boutique du stylo. Nota Bene does not hold many pens, but it's worth going there because Russell is so kind, the choice of paper is great and they hold a decent number of Kaweco models.

Ps didn't see the date of th OP sorry

Hmmm. I was actually planning to go to Essence du Papier today when I visited, but ran out of time. Glad to know I didn't end up wasting it!

Well I am not sure if they are all closed... that's what I am trying to find out.

In Toronto, the location at Yonge & Eglington is closed, but not sure if the downtown location is closed.

Not sure if the Montreal locations are closed, but they are having an 80% off closing sale at their Ville Marie location as per their website.

I ask because, they had all their locations listed on their website, but now there is none.

Does anybody know the status of other locations?

Thank you,

Inked
