Neat.

I did notice, though, that Private Reserve Purple Mojo seems to be coming through on my monitor much darker than I've experienced, and your sample of Noodler's NAV is a little more blue violet.

I've found that in reality, they are fairly close. PM is a bit softer and lighter (less "in your face") than NAV but the hues are similar to your swab for NAV.

So often, I think observations like this are as much about lighting as anything. A scanner has a different light source than your room, outdoors, the kitchen, etc. I was fooled by Tsuki-yo for a long time. People kept calling it teal and I thought they were nuts. Then one day I took it into the kitchen and WOW, there was that teal color they were talking about. In my dim-ish bedroom lighting it was a nice "moonlit night". I like both incarnations.

Pen nib and paper seem to make a big difference as well. When I sample inks I don't bother with swabs because I find that the swab seems to have very little correlation with what is actually coming out of the pen. I gather that using a dip pen also makes a great deal of difference.

Is the Iroshizuku Kosumuso as red as it appears on my monitor?

I suspect that most of these appear darker than they would out of a fountain pen. I have several, and the scans of the ones I have are all darker than in real life, some significantly. I think the lighter, brighter examples, such as the first grouping, may be more accurate than the second two. Part of it is the scanner, and part is how the ink was applied to the paper. Mostly dip pens will deposit a lot more ink on the paper than a fountain pen will, thus looking darker. Swab often appear lighter than a pen, because of the way the eye works, it sees a line as darker than a swab due to the relatively greater white surface of the paper in relation to the ink. That's why a dark ink may appear closer to black in a fine or extra fine, rather than a broad or wider italic nib. In this case, even the swabs appear to be darker, so it's either the scanner, or a heck of a lot of ink was used, or maybe both.

Dan and KCat are absolutely correct! The scans have all come out much darker, and the purples all appear more blue that they actually are. Both Pink Rage and Kosumosu are more of a pinky red (and quite undersaturated at that) in real life. Sorry about the confusion :headsmack:

From my experience with it, no, not at all. It's a much softer pink.

Thanks for that, I love Purple ink, purple anything really! Your handwriting is stunning, I am so jealous.

Have you tried Mont Blanc Lavender Purple? I've only had it a few days. It's a rich, luxurious dark purple in my Sheaffer 0.8mm stub nib and I can't wait to try it in other pens.

No, I haven't. Will have to get my hands on some :bunny01:

I totally agree with Shaylen. The Kosumuso and Pink Rage are lovely soft pinks, slightly on the salmon side of the pink spectrum, and definitely not as red as in my scan.

The scanner hasn't shown these beautiful inks in their best. Rachmaninoff is a brilliant, neon, highlighter pink (albeit a lot more opague, obviously), and Diamine Scarlet and Levenger Pinkly are what I would term 'true pinks'.

I am a great fan of inks in the pink-violet-purple range. It is only with such excellent work as this that I am aware of the full range of the available choices. I notice that this particular scan appears on my monitor with a colour shift slightly to the blue. I am a bit surprised at how the Pinkly, which would have been my absolute favourite pink, if it were available, has shifted to the red, by being concentrated. Also, if the scan has shifted the colours to the blue, then that Monterverde Violet may be quite close to the Gamma Violet I have been trying to get. I will contact my art store next time I am in the city and see if they can get some for me try.

I'm afraid the scans hadn't turned out as accurate as I would've hope :crybaby:

Hopefully, having a range of colours to compare, one can work out what each colour should look like - a good imagination is required :headsmack:

I think I might take photos of my swabs in the future, instead of scanning them.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
