Noodler's Pasternak

Here's my review of the wonderful Noodler's Pasternak ink. It will definitely be a part of my normal lineup.

Something to note: the real color has a bit more purple than the original scans showed, but I did some adjusting on them and they should be more accurate now.

Not so good in the dip nib.

It's just a beautifully muted light purple, verging on lavender. :puddle: Definitely worth a try.

What a wonderful review and comparisons of this Russian series ink. Love your work! Was that Noodler's Baystate Concord Grape?

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Thanks! I've actually never tried any Baystate color except Blue. I've been thinking about getting a sample of the other two and doing a Baystate Comparo. :)

Does this compare in any way to Rohrer and Klinger Scabiosa? Perhaps a bit more blue-leaning with the Noodler's, but that's what hit my mind as soon as I saw the text of your review.

Very nice color, but I wonder how it'd do from a finer nib.

Robert.

Thanks for sharing. This looks nice. I have tried another of the Russian inks and it was rubbish. Any weird issues with this one like color seperation or feed clogging?

Do you sleep? It's another great review, thank you. Did you look at it under a black light, it's supposed to glow like Blue Ghost. It reminded me too of Scabiosa, you should try it.

Which other Russian series ink did you try and what was wrong with it? I'm really wanting to try Dostoyevsky when the Goulets get it back in stock. Hope it's not that one, 'cause I'm too excited for Dostoyevsky. :D

Haha, no sleep for me. I notice no fluorescing whatsoever. I know that Blue Nose Bear is supposed to fluoresce too, but neither my full bottle nor my sample of it glow under UV. :(

LOL! I meant that your sample writing of what you called Baystate Blue looks identical to my Baystate Concord Grape, so I figured you mislabeled the sample by mistake. Now I don't know what is going on.

mhphto as always great review

Another ink to add to my wish list

Cute story about Noodler's Baystate Concord Grape

I try very hard to play the role of a good Uncle (Aunt and Uncle in my family includes 1st or 2nd cousin as well and sometimes close family friends) and send all the little one cards for all holidays and their birthdays. The universal reply back I heard back when I used Baystate Concord Grapeon my Easter cards was what color is that "Grapul"? I also heard that their was more that one card that got licked which resulted in some smeared cards and Purple tongues but no pictures. I think their is more than one Mom who wished the ink was waterproof or at least Toungeproof. O Yea I was told even thought the ink looked "Yummy it tasted Oukky".

Oh! :headsmack: No, it's Baystate Blue, but it does look like CG since I had to adjust the overall tint of the picture to more correctly represent the ink. Sometimes I have to make some tough decisions on tints :( , but it usually works out. :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
