Red, I disturbed them by calling the turkeys, not while they were doing so... ;-)

Be forewarned... I will eye-bang the bejeezus out of your pens...

For some reason when I open the cap of the waterman the nib is covered with ink and there's also some on the section... Any ideas?

This happened to me with a vintage Wahl flex pen, which wrote very wet. Any conventional ink, especially Diamine, would creep up the nib and drip into the cap. Only iron-gall ink would behave properly in this pen. I have since sold it, but remember that issue very well. Perhaps you could try a dry ink?

Has the sac been changed? Tiny holes (microscopic) can cause this. A way to combat this is to store the pen nib up.

And yes, drier inks can help.

Hard to say what the nib size on the Conklin is, Uncle Red, as they didn't really label them back then. If I had to guess, probably a medium, but definitely on the fine size of medium if so. Wonderful nib.

Uncle Red: Yep, the Majestic is hard rubber. It's also threaded on the butt end, so whilst I wouldn't normally post a pen that's this long, I do with this pen because it seems a shame not to take advantage of the old-style craftsmanship.

The ink problem got even worse somehow? Or maybe its just because I never turned it nib down with the cap on.. The cap just fills with ink ):

Uncle Red: I've paid her off ... err ... gave her the anniversary present a fortnight early. A lovely jade Parker Lucky Curve from Mr. Kaufmann in Mississippi (jckaufmann on e-Bay). The Parker Challenger is mine, mine I say. Muwahahahaha ... umm ... meds. Yeah. Must take meds. Odd how the dosages had to be increased since I fell in with you lot.

Herewith, the anniversary present. Photos courtesy of Mr. Kaufmann.

And also from Mr. Kaufmann, a Conway Stewart No. 475 with a 14K fine nib, 8/10 flex per Mr. Kaufmann. I expect to use it a bit, when SWMBO allows me. ;) It's en-route from his place in Hattiesburg, more pix here with sample when it arrives, hopefully near the end of this week. Yeah the sac has been changed (says the person who sold it to me). Ahh thats a shame.. will have to keep it at home then ):

One, change the sack and be sure.

Two, try a drier ink

How are you carrying the pen? My 22 is having the same issue but I thought it was just a primitive feed.

I meant, #2 #4 etc. I know they didn't mark the point in the old days and it drives me nuts sometimes. Waterman has 3 different stubs in the old catalogs but only shows you a picture of one and doesn't describe any of them. :gaah:

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
