I

- write stories (2 1500 word short stories in the last 4 days)

- correct my stories *red*

- make notes in journals of observations, new words, and ideas

- make notes of sudy topics. Currently reading up on Agile Project Management and learning Java (I'm a .Net guy)

- write poetry for fun and to expand my horizons *search poetry asides

- so far one letter, but I'd like to write more.

Aside from taking down notes. Of course, I use them to write on my diaries and journals. Write my letters and poems too.

Thinking that my Rotring Initial could be a good self-defense instrument since the body is well constructed and a pointy but rounded on the end. :D

I'm constantly on the lookout for more excuses to use my pens. So far, I

  • Journal
  • Write down every inane thought that passes through my head (often about fountain pens/ink)
  • Write letters
  • Write in my planner (which is colour coded for different categories of things that go on my calendar)
  • Write stories/personal essays
  • Write really terrible poetry
  • Test new inks
  • Clean the pens
  • Admire the pens
  • Test different papers
  • Take artsy pictures of the pens/the things I write with the pens
  • Write things at work
  • Make lists

Mostly it's that second one. I have a three-page list of writing prompts in my notebook, but if I'm not feeling inspired to write anything particularly creative or productive, I just start rambling. I don't know if it actually helps to make my brain any less full of jumbled thoughts, but it's therapeutic.

You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should've behaved better. ~ Anne Lamott (This is where I tell my stories.)

I wave my Nakaya Desk Pen around and *ting!* people with it, spreading the magic!

Do you wear a costume while *tinging*?

I was curious as to what other fellow fountain pen users do with their pens for fun. Typically I write in a journal, sent letters, create design drawings, and mess around with ink and paper combinations.

What other things do you guys and gals do for fun with your FP's?

I am nowhere as creative as most people on here. I am a Traffic Management type for the Military and use my FP to sign documents and write instructions. For years most forms were multipart so I had to use a RB. Now I enjoy seeing the double take when I pull out my new Montegrappa FP to sign a simple document for a customer.

I make little period costumes for mine, then improvise dramatic scenes with them using my escritoire as a stage. I am careful to respect the Aristotelian unities when creating these tiny performances, and see to it that each pen adopts a role in keeping with its character as a writing instrument. The action rarely builds to a conflict, however, since everyone knows that the pen is mightier than the sword and I would hate for any of my pens to be damaged. Performances typically end when the last pen runs out of ink.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
