I'm using a Camlin Elegante in Jet Blue with Camlin Royal Blue ink.

Also at hand are a Kale (from Pune) with Camlin Green, an Airmail 58C8 with Camlin Red and a Butterfly Office with custom 1:3 blend of Camlin Black and Green.

Cheers!

Dear Mohan

The Swans are intriguing. Could you please PM me the details and the price?

Cheers!

Kale?!!

Butterfly?!!

Kale is a local pen manufacturer in Pune. Have been a small, family owned pen shop for as long as I can remember. They only sell their own pens, and each nib is personally tuned and calibrated.

There are a couple of other threads on FPN re: the Kale experience. And quite an experience it is!

Butterfly is also a noname inexpensive brand from this part of the country.

And then the usual (and famous) Airmail.

Hi Kapil,

I do visit Pune from time to time.... Where is Kale's pen store located? Maybe I can have the Kale experience too :)

This morning, a new Deccan Yematso. I still don't have enough time with it for a clear opinion, other than that it is a very beautiful pen. First impression is that it is a somewhat wet writer with just a bit of feedback on a rather elegant-feeling medium-fine nib.

More to come later.

Hi Hema

It's located right next to Dagadusheth Halwai Ganesh Temple in Budhwar Peth. The temple is a very popular landmark, so you shouldn't have any problem getting there.

The shop itself is a pretty small - and does appear rundown. It looked much prosperous in it's heyday. The pens (and the experience) would not disappoint you.

Give me a shout out if you are here, we can connect.

Cheers!

Using a Jet Blue Camlin Elegante. This is the pen that I always carry with me of late.

Kapil, I really like your handwriting! :)

I have used Kale pens for a while. they were just OK, also their ink in polyethene satchets. I miss Pune sometimes...

Best

Hari

Is that a Camlin nib on your Elegante? I like the subtle line variation you seem to get with it. If it is like the one in my Camlin SD it has a slight upturn at the very tip, and that is what gives that capability, I think.

Nice pens, and nice handwriting - and beautiful quotes, too. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, and welcome to FPN, and welcome to the Indian pens thread! :W2FPN:

I have one of those, and it's never given me any trouble. But maybe what you want to do is give it a good flushing with water with a little dishwashing liquid (like one or two drops in a full waterglass) added in. Just remember to flush that out again with fresh water...

Good luck.

Your Designmate looks good enough to eat! Wonderful, all those new-to-me Indian pens...

Tried that, multiple times, also have tried multiple inks, still runs so dry that can not write more than a page with it. :crybaby:

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
