I've been abusing my current collection of inks on another thread. But having decided that 50+ samples wasn't enough, I've bought more samples and will subject them to similar misery - water and Las Vegas sunlight. I won't start the experiment until this weekend when I have expensive (child) labor so if you want to see anything special, post your requests here.

This looks like a very interesting experiment, however, the images are way too large to load on this old computer. :(

Thank you for telling me. I'm in the process of fixing that now. I didn't upload the new pics yet.

To best explain, I took all of the colors (and I added some from my prior experiment. I used a Speedball C-4 nib for each ink. The paper is an acid free / lignin free inkjet compatible business card stock. If any of the inks look "too wet" - blame the user not the ink. I will complain about these dip pens later. Once I had the ink on the pen, I wrote the ink name on two cards and doodled all around.

After all of the inks were dry, I took a wet brush and ran it across a single line.

Once the first wash dried, I used a really wet brush and attempted to paint the bottom doodle with water.

So, here are the first rounds after some exposure to water....

I've put them up in my window and will take them down in a few weeks.

Ahh, much better now, thank you!

I look forward to seeing how some of those colors hold up.

P.S. I like your BSB + CCC mixes.

The Baystate colors are changing quickly. They are still pretty. The Visconti mixes are also changing. In my other ones, they don't completely disappear, but they do change.

I found this to be interesting. The gel highlights are completely gone. The crayons kids marker is doing almost well as the sharpie.

No surprise... the pretty scent is gone almost immediately.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
