What Did I Find?

Picked this up from a local antique store for cheap. I don't have a ruler hand right now to see the length of it. But it is small in size. Where can I send this to be restored?

Is this a button filler? Does it have a blind cap? It looks like you have picked up a Duette, a pen made for students around 1932. If it is what I think it is, restoration is quite straight forward. It would involve pulling the section, removing all traces of the original sac and checking the press bar. Then replacing the sac and giving it a nice polish. I have just given my Duette to one of the moderators of the Q&A forum for just that work.

John Mottishaw (nibs.com) -- no experience with a restoration, but I have been a customer and he is highly recommended (though he does have a lengthy lead time).

No, I have changed my mind. The Duette only had one gold band. It is probably a Parker Streamline Duofold Junior of the early 1930s. The restoration should be the same as I mentioned above.

it's a streamlined duofold junior ca. 1930. for quick, inexpensive, no-fuss restoration, send it over to danny fudge via www.thewritepen.net.

It is a button filler. From what I can tell there is no marks on the body of the pen. This is my first vintage pen find so I'm pretty excited.

You have a very nice classic pen. It will be beautiful when restored. There should be some writing on the barrel of the pen. It should say something like Geo. Parker, and it should tell you where it was made. This pen was either made in the US, Canada or England. The restoration of these pens is easy and straight forward. I hope that you will post pictures and maybe a writing sample when it is done. I am sure that once you have experienced writing with this classic pen, it will not be your last.

Joel Hamilton of INK-PENS.COM gets all my Parker works and I highly recommend him.

In fact I traded a group of Sr Duofolds to him a while back.

I don't want to be that guy, but I have to ask--what did you pay?

There are a thousand thoughts lying within a man that he does not know till he takes up a pen to write.

Should we make this fun and have people guess? Later tonight I'll post how much I paid for it.

Sending out Tom to get restored. Can't wait to get it back to see how it writes... Ok I'll give in, I paid $10 for it. I also picked up an Parker 21 for $18. The 21 wasn't as good as a deal in my opinion but it was free of marks and had the original box with it.

I would have paid $10 for it :clap1: (then run away looking over my shoulder before anyone noticed :ninja:)

I am sure you are going to enjoy this pen.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
