I recently got a set from Todd at isellpens (no affiliation) that I found to work really well. It's made by Hero and includes a 1.1, 1.5, and 1.9 mm nib set. For 10$ u.s. that's pretty good. I've only tried the 1.1 so far but I am quite happy with the performance. I've had a Sheaffer set before but don't know how the new sets are and I've tried the Manuscript brand but they are rubbish. I use Lamy 1.1 mm nibs a lot and really like those, plus have a Parker Duofold with an Italic nib that I really like. I also have an italic Pelikan nib but don't use it because it's too wet, too rounded for me.

Hope that helps,

The new Sheaffer sets are... OK. The finish is substantially inferior to the previous Viewpoints and No Nonsenses, but the performance is only just perceptibly inferior. Parker's Vector points work well, but I find the little step at the joint is a bit miserable for long-term use. Rotring Artpens are much like the Lamys in terms of performance, as at Pilot Plumix/Pluminix, but lack the strictly shaped sections. While I have an irrational love of Osmiroids, I can't really recommend them; I find they tend to have flow issues (the near exact similarity of the the feel of the Manuscript sets does, alas, include this failing). I've not tried the Hero set, but I haven't had any bad experiences with Heros of a less shapely nature.

Just saw an interesting calligraphy pen set while perusing the InformationSuperHighway. The German Made Online Newood Calligraphy and the Online Tango Calligraphy Set, though a tad bit $$$. Anyone heard or have experience with these calligraphy sets?
