Low Cost Liquid Ink Roller Ball On Ebay

Blot

Recommended Posts

I found this interesting roller ball pen on eBay that takes fountain pen cartridges. It is a "Beifa Free ink pen" apparently produced for the Polish market and made in China. The quality is better than I expected for the price ($12 including shipping) and it came with 40 different coloured ink cartridges (you can choose the colours). There is room in the barrel for a spare cartridge. I was very impressed with the service provided by this guy and the speed of shipping. I have no affiliation to the seller but thought FPN members, particularly ink enthusiasts, could find many uses for a pen like this.

Very interesting. Can you give us a comparison on line width. Is it closer to 0.7 mm Medium Line Width, most FP Ink usable RB's are or is it closer to 0.5 mm A Fine or XF in standard disposable RB pens. I'd like to find an 0.4 or 0.3 mm Point on an RB which will take FP ink. I've tried the Monteverde, Passporto/Stipula and Invicta RB's and the line width is too wide for me. But I am a dreamer. Thanks for your help, Jim

Sorry forgot to mention, I tried a convertor and it didn't fit.

You could always go the whole way and eyedropperificationize it. Go on, you know you want to.

jim, have you considered the Noodler's rollerball? They write a finer line than 0.7 gel pens, depending on ink and paper. Available from Goulets. I've had mixed results, nice line but sometimes ink leaks through the ball into cap then onto section and fingers. Napkin at ready when I use these.

I tried the Noodlers to begin with and have revisited the issue several times. I seem to have bad luck with them and get a lot of burping, ink building up in the cap and ink leaking around the ball or out the 2 intake ink/outflow air slits in the RB/section area. I spent more time messing with dirty diapers than I did writing. This doesn't work out for me on hectic days in clinic. Thanks for the suggestion though, Jim

This pen is about 0.7 mm. Have you tried Rotring? They do an EF Tikky rollerpoint but I can't find a picture of the refills anywhere to see if fountain pen ink could be used. The Tikky free ink feed system looks quite similar to this Beifa.

I have a Tikky, refillable, out of Cult Pens in UK. It uses a Ball point like refill. Body is metal and you replace the RB tip with each refill. It is a nice writer and has the width I like 0.3mm. There is also a disposable Tikky, in Ultra Fine which also works but is similar to the Pilot V5. jetpens. has this latter item. I was hoping to find an RB that would use FP ink. Thanks for

your help, Jim
