Vanishing Point: Ice Green Or 2011 Pink?

I'm trying to decide whether to go with the Ice Green Vanishing Point or the pearl hot pink - I wanted to get the stealth but all the reports of the finish scratching off have made me reconsider that one for a much later date.

I was wondering if anyone who owns a pink Safari and the pink vanishing point could compare the two for me - is the VP slightly subtler than the Safari?

I'd get both, but that's a huge chunk of change...and I just splurged on a bunch of inks.

I would say that the pink VP is subtler than the Safari, yes. Part of it could be the finish, it has a nice pearly shimmer to it, instead of the stark plastic on the Safari.

It is a very nice pink, I really like it! :cloud9:

Thank you! All the pictures I've found of either the pink or ice green have all been so well-lit and slick that it's hard to tell whether what's on my monitor is accurate at all or if I'd be getting a matching sister to my pink Safari.

Now, the dilemma boils down to...I feel like I've been binging on pink-colored stuff lately LOL. Heading towards that edge of 'too much of a good thing' methinks...

The pink vanishing point is so much nicer than the safari -- it's very smooth and comfortable in your hand, and the vanishing tip makes it so convenient to use!

It's gorgeous and eyecatching - but not as garish as you'd think, from the hot pink color.

I have several safaris, but I always ended up using the VP.

I'm in mourning because I just lost mine --arggggh.

Any word about a special edition color for 2012? I keep waiting and waiting before I decide to go for the gun metal grey one I want to see if they'll have a nice purple or teal or something.

Here's a photo showing several pink pens. I love pink pens, but, I'll be honest, the VP makes me a little nauseous. VPs are my favorite pens, so I thought a pink one would be my grail pen. In retrospect, I'm sure I would have been happier with the Decimo. I strongly recommend that you see it live before you order. You may love it. Others seem to. Hope this helps.

There is or was a pink Decimo that is a color similar to the softer pink pen (3rd on down) in the photo. Not hot pink at all.

I really love my ice green. It's subtle and I use it as my "serious" pen. The pink does not convey serious unless you are in New Orleans, San Francisco or here in Las Vegas. Keep in mind that we wear gold shoes year around and during the day.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I noticed this was your first post and you reported loosing your Pink VP. What a sad beginning to your journey to FPN. Hope you can replace it soon or it somehow finds its way back to you. The loss of a favored fountain pen can be devastating.

Well, I took a photo of every pen I have inked in the office. You can see the Ice Green Vanishing Point. I carry this pen. The Pink Stipula is a great price and I know several men who carry the pink pen (breast cancer awareness).

Hi,

If it were me, I'd pick the Ice Green. I love my two pink Pilot Capless Decimo pens, and I have the violet one as well. I just tend to like pastel colors more. The 2011 pink although a pretty color is very "out there." If that is your thing, it's the pen to get. It's very distinct, and you (and all your friends) will know it is yours when you see it.

I myself am a bit partial to the ice green. I just think the color is a bit subtler and easier on the eyes, but that's just my style. If you like to stand out, go for the pink! I like the color of it, but I just don't like my pens to stick out because of their color.

I'd get the pink just because it stands out more. haha. In general, when things come in many colors, I like to buy them in bright colors so they stand out when they are on my desk or in a drawer. Helps me avoid losing things.

Though in fairness, if someone tries to steal your hot pink pen, well, you'll have caught them pink handed!
