Question About Visconti Nib Size

Hi,

I am looking into buying a Visconti Rembrand fountain pen. Since I cannot try it out, I am hoping, that someone might be able to help me.

I was wondering, how wide the line of the f nib is. I read somewhere that it is more of a medium size? The thing is that I love super fine nibs

like the sailor nibs. Now I am wondering, how the Visconti fine nib compares to a sailor fine nib. Or for that matter to a Pelikan fine nib.

I hope someone can tell me more about line widths of the Visconti fountain pens. Or even post some pics?

Thanks a lot, Nicole

Current Visconti F nibs are particularly on the wide side. I'd say on a par with a Pelikan Fine nib (like those on the M400, M600), which aren't particularly narrow Fines. I'd suggest if you like super fine nibs that you go for an EF if available, even then it won't be all that thin. This is an overall general comment about Visconti nib widths; I haven't tried the Rembrant. But I own and have tried a number of recent production Viscontis.

I don't own any Sailor nibs, so I can't make a comparison to those. I tried some, but I can't remember with a high degree of certainty.

Hi Eric,

thanks for your quick reply, this does help me. I do own several fine Pelikans and do find them too wide to draw with them, although I love them for writing.

If the Visconti is similar to those it will be too wide for my liking. Such a shame, I do love the look of those Visconti pens... I might think about getting an f nib

and have it grind somewhat finer. I think I will look into that. Obvious that I want that pen *LOL

The Sailor nibs are very fine, but still never toothy, they are just perfect for finer details. If one likes extra fines, then they are great!
