Nibs For Waterman Expert Ii: Questions About Replacement And Regrind

Hello all,

I've been writing for a few months with a Waterman Expert II, but just recently I bought a Noodlers Ahab which made me realize, I like the finer nibs better. My Waterman currently has a Medium nib. My first question is, where do you guys recommend to purchase a new Fine nib? I searched on ebay and the only replacement nibs I found for the Expert II would be coming from the UK at approx $50 USD. I was about to purchase one but, just in case, I want to ask here to see if I can get them cheaper and closer. Or if anyone here has one for sale, let me know.

Secondly, once I receive my fine nib I wanted to see if it's possible to do a custom grind on the M nib. I want to try a Stub or Italic/Oblique nib to test but I'm not sure if it's possible starting from a M nib or if I need a B or larger. What places are recomended for regrinds?

Thank you all in advance!

Sounds like a Richard Binder project. But the Expert nibs are not high end nibs. If you can find another nib for $40 they write very well right out of the box. I have a number and I just inter change any nib on any body.

Lewertowski (Ebayshop "Penseller from France") who is also a member here, sells them for $46.86 at the moment.

He has usually great prices and has a good reputation here on the FPN.

As for the regrinds: depends on what size stub or italic you want. These also come in sizes, personally I enjoy my IF from Conway Stewart. Ofcourse the line variation on an IB is much stronger.

Expert IIs are greta pens, workhorses and good balance but no great nib choices. Replacement nibs are expensive and hard to come by.

Grinding down to CI in M or F should not ba a prblem for experts like Richard Binder, Pendelton etc.

BTW you could get a new Expert II in F for just over $75 + shipping (see amazon.com)

Enjoy your pens

Have a nice day

I know this is an old thread but I am on the same boat. I just got a Waterman Expert II and I really like the pen weight but it came with a medium nib and I like fine or extra fine nibs.

I was hoping there would be a place/site to trade mine in for something smaller... wishful thinking I guess.

FPN member Dutchpen regularly lists Waterman nibs for sale in the classifieds. Edited by carlos.q

ecologito....i did a quick search in ebay and didn't find any nibs for the expert II....were you able to source any?

Also....i guess I'll give it another try but also didn't run into any nibs for the expert in the classifieds....maybe I'm searching wrong but I went through several pages and didn't come across a seller named Dutchpen.

I don't know if he is selling on ebay, but he is right here on FPN.

Just send him a PM.

So... I received my Fine nib a few days ago, I have been trying to use it but to my surprise the medium and the fine are not that much different.

To my liking this is still too broad, I may have to trade the pen all together and try to find something more along japanese fine line style pens.

I loved the size and weight of the my waterman but the nib is just not quite what I enjoy.

I have two Fine nib Experts (II and III), I find them quite a bit finer than the Medium II. You can get an Extra Fine nib for the Expert if you want something even finer.
