Syringe To Inject Ink Into Feed Hole?

I haven't gotten a syringe yet, but does anyone know if you can inject ink with a blunt needle into the feed hole near the nib (not drop by drop onto feed) of a Lamy Safari or a Pilot Decimo? This seems like an easy/lazy way to go. Have you tried this? Or does the ink just bubble back out?

I have not tried it but am guessing it would be a challenge at best and a real mess at worst; the air in the pen has to go somewhere and it would be coming back out around the needle along with some ink. Seems like a solution looking for a problem, a lazy problem

May we live, not by our fears but by our hopes; not by our words but by our deeds; not by our disappointments but by our dreams.

I guess I don't understand why you'd want to use a syringe. Converters are so easy to use, because all you need to do is wipe off the section and nib.

Thanks, I guess it would have to be designed that way, like a snorkel.

You would not want to inject ink into a snorkel tube either.

If you want to make it a little less messy, just inject ink into the converter. Alternatively, you could pull the converter out, suck up ink, wipe the converter and put back. Again, that keeps the section and nib clean.

I only inject directly into converters and my dropped MB Verne which, with a little pressure, lets me remove the piston cap off the back (the result of dropping it on a concrete floor.)

If you try your proposed method, please advise on results, I am curious.

Does it work?

I just use a 20cc syringe (with a plastic needle from a jelco 14 or 16) to flush nibs and feeds with water. I've never used a syringe to inject ink into the feed, but to fill cartridges.

Brian Goulet had a video a while back briefly showing the method, it does work. It is just a really S-L-O-W way of filling your pen.

Ah, ok! I remember that video! In fact, we don't inject ink into the feed, but we may use a syringe or a eyedropper to drop the ink over the feed: one drop and suck, one drop and suck... Yes it's nice when we have a bit of ink (less than 1ml).

If you ever try, please make a clip, showing your whole table, out of it. ;)

I'm thinking I won't buy a needle then. The only other possible use is to get the last drops of ink from a bottle, and I use the Goulet sample vials and to do that. So far I can get all but the last .5 ml or so by pouring ink into the vial and dipping the pen while holding the vial at an angle.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
