Fountain Pens In Birmingham, Alabama

Greetings from the Birmingham, Alabama metro area; I am a new member on this board, but love fountain pens.

I am looking for pens to give as gifts (trying to rope my two brothers into writing with a fountain pen) and am also looking for a supplement to my Waterman Phileas.

Can anyone direct me to stores, shops which sell a wide range of fountain pens in the Birmingham metro area? Especially in North Shelby county, or the hwy 280 corridor. I know that Church and Stagg carries a wide array, but was wondering if there was anybody nearer where I work.

Thanks!

Sorry, I cannot help you. But I think that Glenn Marcus's website has a list of Pen stores around the world. But welcome to FPN! My Phileas was the first pen that I really loved.

Thanks very much! I had already looked at Glenn Marcus' site, and the only Birmingham, AL store he lists is Church & Stagg, which I have now discovered, has closed down their office supply business.

Anybody else out there know of a place in Birmingham where I can find a decent fountain pen selection?

Greetings and welcome to FPN. Sorry I can't be of any help with your endeavor to locate a pen shop in the Birmingham area. You might also try posting your inquiry in a couple of the other forums eg. 'Chatter' and 'Writing Instruments' . Best of luck and it's great to have you here with us

Welcome !

It is regretable that fountain pens are no longer a part of many "office supply"

business models. There are, however, quite a few online retailers.

You haven't told the age of your brothers, or the intended price range of gifts.

The Parker 45 is a good-functioning pen with traditional looks, and can be had for

around $25. For "stocking stuffer" pens, I would check Pelikan Pelikano, or some

Reform "kid pens" for under $20. I am giving four TWSBI Diamond 540 pens this

Christmas. In the $100 - $200 range, there is the American-made BEXLEY foutain pen,

that has a "showie" exterior, and writes beautifully. I own and use all of these,

and find them to be good value in their price ranges.

This is a wonder place to feed your fountain pen passion. Good hunting.

I am aware that there are a few collectors from Birmingham and hopefully they will chime in on Stores in your area. However, Birmingham was actually home to a Fountain Pen Company up until 1934 - Artcraft.

It's quite sad about Church & Stagg. Beverly is awesome. Other than the Montblancs sold in Mori at the Galleria, I know of no good pens for sale in our area. I just got back from a business trip to Atlanta and had great luck at Artlite and Total Office Products. Hope that helps.
