Blotter Corners

I would love to have one of those gorgeous leather desk blotter pads, the old kind that fold up, that have leather rails and pockets to hold various paper things in, with the moire silk ground that you cover with fresh blotting paper sheets . . . but they are both rare and expensive, so I have made do with a cheap new pseudo-leather desk pad.

One thing there tends to be a continual supply of on ebay is the vintage or antique blotter corner set. Usually made out of some metal or other and in various styles. I'm wondering if I can dress up my desk with these corners, with my desk pad as the base and blotting paper on top. Does this make sense? Has anybody done this? Does anybody even have those corner thingies?

need data . . .

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

I bought the corners and fit them over an old desk blotter, and squeezed blotter paper between the two. The only minor difficulty was matching the thickness of the desk pad and blotter paper to the openings in the corners.
