Ink Brand Loyalty?

No ink brand loyalty here either.

Bottom line is if I'm attracted by the colour and it behaves properly in my pens, I will gladly purchase a bottle!

François (Frank) P.

Currently inked: Parker 51/Quink Blue-Black; TWSBI 580 1.1mm/Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses.

Yes, I'm loyal. I only buy Mont Blanc. And Lamy. And Pelikan. And Rohrer & Klingner. And Platinum. And Sailor. And Parker. And Diamine. And Private Reserve. And Noodlers. And Sheaffer. And Pilot. That's it, no others.

I always keep a stock of Herbin for my high end and prone to stain pens. Waterman cartridges for my Carenes [ready to go at a moment travel pens]. Otherwise I'm working my way across brands in the other pens.

Serial loyalty?

Surely that's 'Coronation Street' or Cornflakes.

My bias is clearly in the Diamine line. Umber, Syrah, Oxblood, Pumpkin, Chocolate, Vermillion, and Monaco Red could be my staples. Saturated, labeled on the TOP of the bottle, reasonably-priced, and well-behaved.

Not all of my 30ml bottles are labeled on top. Three or four have color tabs stuck on the bottom of the Diamine label itself. Drives me crazy. (One of these days I will cave and get a label maker...)

As far as the OP...

I would say I have "tendencies" more than "loyalties." Diamine and Noodler's are go-to inks for the price, the color range, and availability in my part of the world. Diamine has the edge, actually, because a nice selection is available in a shop about an hour's drive from me; most of my impulse purchases are Diamines for that reason.

Plus, if I have a Diamine color I don't like or tire of, I can give the bottle away to a FP newbie with confidence, knowing I don't have to give detailed instructions about care and use. It is a very forgiving ink.

That being said, I would never turn my nose up at a bottle of Iroshizuku or Akkerman...

Yes.

Noodler's.

That is all.

I guess so...I've kept my pens on a strict diet of Noodler's. I really like that I get the most "bang for the buck" because I can shop online in different sites and get a variety of prices. I once got my Noodler's (bulletproof) black for retail price with free 2-day shipping, which was pretty darn cool since I was about to be out of town.

No particular loyalty; however, I find myself liking the colours offered by Diamine, Montblanc, Noodler's and Private Reserve.

No brand loyalty here either, but I recently discovered Rohrer&Klingner inks and wow :notworthy1: these are great, beautiful, amazing colors, great flow, lots of ink in a bottle at a great price. I am sure I will buy more inks from them.

I don't exhibit "brand loyalty", there are so many great inks out there that it's hard to be monogamous. I do find I have a majority of Noodlers, he is pretty willing to experiment and he turns out some very fine inks.

I don't really use waterman because if it gets just slightly wet, all you've written VANISHES!! yikes.gif

So it's an anti-loyalty I guess.

I stop short of making snow cones but I do like Noodler's. However I will use a shade of another mfg. if it strikes my fancy.

I'm not loyal to a brand terribly intentionally, but I'm not okay with my writing not being at least water-resistant, and preferably waterproof. I'm also really cheap. As a result, I've been sticking with Noodlers so far, and will likely continue to buy mostly that. I am interested in R&K Scabiosa though, and I really, really want the Akkerman bottles. I guess I'll use the ink too, but I'll have to have a special non-waterproof pen for that...

I haven't used a huge variety - only Diamine, Noodlers, Private Reserve, Waterman, and Parker Quink.

So far I like Diamine the best because of the excellent color and behavior. But I tend to use Noodler's the most for the bulletproof properties. I have a few Private Reserve inks, they have some excellent colors, but IMO Diamine inks are just as nice, but tend to be better behaved.

Parker Quink black was my very first bottle, used it for quite a while until I started experimenting with others and haven't gone back to it.

Waterman - used Florida Blue for a while, but never really liked it much - not enough intensity, although very well behaved.

Of Noodler's, PR, Waterman, Parker, and Lamy, Noodler's and Private Reserve are my top choices. There's just something about the color choices...

I have 7 different brands of ink at the moment. No, I have no brand loyalty, just preferences.

I've been on a quest to see if I could commit all Seven Deadly Sins in a single day. Finally, it dawned on me I shouldn't try for the One Day Wonder Prize for all seven in one day. It's simply out of any question as you can't commit decent sloth while busily ticking the other six off your crowded "to do" list. -- ViolinWriter

I tend to buy inks from Noodler's and Diamine since they have a massive variety and the best price vs. volume, but I'm willing to buy from other brands if they have what I'm looking for at a reasonable price.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
