Pelikan M1000

Recommended Posts

I am going to purchase my first Pelikan, the M1000, M nib. Since I have never seen one, I am undecided about the black or the green. Could someone tell me their preferences? For which color is Pelikan more identified? Thanks.

I would say that the Green is THE traditional Pelikan color.

Black looks good, but I dislike black and gold.

Now rhodium trim... that's a whole different story. :)

Anyway, congrats on the pen, whichever color you get!

Need a pen repaired or a nib re-ground? I'd love to help you out.

I have a blue stripe pelikan m800. I love the color. But if your decision is between green and black. I think green is the pelikan color. But choose which ever one you want. Just know that either one you choose, you have an amazing m1000.

I understand the whole connection between signature color (green) and flagship model (M1000). But I really wish they'd offer a blue or Red M1000-- as on the M800.

A red/black M1000 is probably my "grail" pen.

The green M1000 is definitely the more Pelikan-iconic, while the black is more formal and traditional. Personally I wish they would offer a black with silver trim, then it would be a no-brainer purchase for me.

I guess if I had to choose right now I'd go with the green. I know I owned an M1000 in the past but I can't remember which one. :headsmack:

The green seems to be somewhat translucent, so you can see the piston travelling and get an idea of the ink level. It's an awesome pen.

I have both (and a M1005), if I had to choose it would be GREEN.

As others said, a white trim black could make me change my mind.

Can this help you?

I find all comments on M1000 very interesting since it is my number one must have. I have tried one recently and found the medium nib to be, a great writing experience having a springy slightly flex feel to it. I would be undecided on the colour but others have given good advice. Go for it!!

I feel a first Pelikan should always be Green (as you've decided) as it is the Pelikan colour. I have a green M1000 ith a fine nib-unusually close to flex for a modern nib. I also have the now discontinued M1050- black with a Vermeil cap, with an OBB nib...Lovely!

You'll findthe M1000 a great experience, I'm sure!

I remember now, I had the M1050! the cap was beautiful but too blingy. I loved it at home but felt self-conscious with it at work.

I would like to someday own all the "iconic" oversize pens from the big manufacturers. I'm putting the M1000 green on my wish list.

Would you post a writing sample of that nib?

Me too, I have a (green) M1050 with a B nib, but it has no line variation (and I do not really trust the samples on Pelikan's website).

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
