Parker Duofold Accession Queen Jubilee 2002

My recent acquisition of a gold plated Duofold in limited edition series. The pen although in international size, is rather a heavy pen. The pen uses a converter or cartridge.

Here goes the photos..

Beautiful pen! I was eyeing it a year or two ago. Though I was under the impression it was solid gold and not just gold plated :(

Thanks guys. The nib is in medium size. Previously I wished the pen is a centennial pen. I reckon its heavy weight may put a toll if it is produced as a centennial accession pen.

Perhaps for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee 2012, Parker will issue a centennial pen but a lighter one and who knows it will be in a solid gold pen with a diamond on top of it. :notworthy1:

I often thought this was one of the best ideas that Parker had for a limited edition. Very british, and beautifuly executed. I think the target market was the collectors rather than anybody who actally intended to write with the thing, a bit like the snake, which is whty it is soooo heavy. I beleive that number 001 was sent to the queen, and 002 was given to Price Charles. You are a lucky man, I have been coveting this pen since it was first produced.

I handled one of these at the time they came out...Sharp's of Hay street-then under it's previous owners (just) had one in. I can confirm it was enourmously and unusably heavy (and I like weighty pens...I often write with a Pel M1050 posted) but lovely looking. It's also one pen where the cap 'jewel' really was just that... a rather large amethyst the size of the usual duofold metal disk.

Terribly impractical but nice somehow. :puddle:
