Parker "51" Case

Hello,

I'm fairly new to fountain pens and I was hoping someone could help me out. I recently received a parker "51" special pen and pencil set as a gift. I've seen a few different "51" cases but not one similar to mine. I have yet to rum into another in my searches. I was just a bit curious and wondering if anyone knew a bit of history/info behind it. It is a flip open display type. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I had a Parker 51 Special set that came in the same kind of case, and I have seen a number of sets in this case on ebay. I think that's a pretty common case for a 51 Special set. Yours looks like a nice set. One great thing about the Special is that with the polished cap you don't have to worry about a Lustraloy finish wearing off like you might with the regular 51.

I looked this case up in the Parker Vacumatic book. Accordingly this case was made for the "51 Special" and doubled as both a display box and a storage box.
