How long does the scent linger?

Not very long, though I haven't done any specific tests with it yet. Even fresh on the page, it's not quite perceptible unless you're holding it up to your nose.

I'm five years late but I just bought a bottle of this ink yesterday. The colour on Rhodia off-white paper is a slightly violet-leaning red, not quite burgundy but not a true red either. The rose scent is huge and immediately evident upon uncapping the bottle or an inked pen: a fresh, dewy, slightly soapy rose, not perfumey at all. It is barely evident once it's dried on the page, and fades quickly, but it will be very present while you're writing with it. I've tried a number of the scented De Atramentis inks and this one is by far the most true to life. (The berry inks all smell synthetic, as does the chocolate: I don't even know what the wines are suppose to smell like but it isn't wine.)

I agree with you on most of the D'A scented inks I've tried (Patchouli was the worst; which is too bad, it's an interesting color). But Red Roses is glorious (it's what I expect heirloom varieties -- okay, not the R. foetidas -- of roses to smell like).

In a finer nib, it's more of a red violet than a true "rose" color, but still a pretty ink. And one I may sure I have a backup bottle of....

Try Ylang Ylang and Blackberry. They're both fantastic as re scents. Truest to life of all of the DeAs I've yet whipped out.
