Parker "51". Single Diamond.

I think he doesn't know all the correct terms for all the parts. Vocabulary is important.

Like Grizzles says, you removed the whole press bar thingy. I've never seen pics of one removed. In fact, that thing being off is why I thought you had replaced the original sac with a black rubber sac. I have no doubts that these things get stained Griz, I just thought I was looking at a pen that had been tinkered with. Geez.

And when you say single diamond, are you referring to the pointy thingy at the top of the cap? If so, that's the jewel, like Heraclitus says. All in all, a very nice pen and you should enjoy playing with it once you get it cleaned up and filled with ink. :clap1:

According to all the information I could find the "Press 6 times" filler was '48,'49. That is not to say some early '50 pens may not have been "parts binned" with earlier fillers but generally '48, '49 were the Press 6 times years.

<Popping corn, opening ice cold IBC Cream soda, this should be good/>

Bruce in Ocala, FL-yikes!

Corn ok?

Real butter?

Salt?

Can you tell me the different types of "press 6 times" filler shrouds just to stay on topic?

Of course real butter and corn's the only thing other than mash potatoes that I salt.

On the fillers, I searched high and low about them. I even had to email Ernesto on the '48,'49 Press 6 time fillers. I wasn't able to find out alot about them myself.

I think some of the Press 6ers might be chrome plated and some might be aluminum but I'm not really sure about that, so yes, I would like to know about the different ones.

What say ye of mighty Lamy forum non-Mod?

PS And yes, Mr. Wisenheimer here sure thought that someone had put a latex sac on the filler...

He cannot speak about non-forum non-modding in this forum. You have to go to the un-forum for any discussion.

And glad I'm not the only one who thought it was a latex sac.

When I saw it I thought, "Hey! I could have worked in the Parker factory!" as I thought it resembled one of my braille resac jobs.

:roflmho:

Bruce in Ocala, FL-you mean everyone doesn't get shellac under their eyelids?

I see! yes, I was referring to the diamond thingy on top as a diamond and not a jewel. My bad! And I thought you meant actually removing the bar on the filler and not just the whole filler it's self. The whole filler unscrews fro,m the base of the sack and was easy to remove. Terminology noted but I can't promise to not make the same mistake twice! or three time or four!

I take it you have never seen a badly stained pliglass sac... it will look exactly like the sac in the picture

I happened to bump into this pic this morning of an apparent NOS 51 on The Bay.

NOSpliglas.jpg

I'm curious that if the OP's sac is a badly stained pliglass sac why it does not appear to have the same longitudinal lines molded into it that this pliglass sac does? I don't see how just ink staining would "erase" the impressions molded into the sac.

Bruce in Ocala, FL-obviously still a doubting Bruce

The impressions are not on the outside of the sac, but internal.... so severe staining and dried ink remaining in the sac will cause that effect.

That is a nice-looking Burgundy. I just picked up a Forest Green demi that I'm flushing. It's sac is stained dark just like yours. (That would be my point.) I'm relatively new at this as well so having images of a partially disassembled 51 is interesting.

I've probably filled and emptied (with water) my new/old pen about 40 times already. The last purge still produced an inky cloud in my "special purging glass" (a Jack Daniel's four once glass). :) The pen is refilled with clean water and soaking now. It takes some time to clean them out.

Cool, I probably won't use my 51 as a writer. I will most likely sell all my pens except a select few when my thirty days are up. I need funds to go hunt for more pens! It's a vicious cycle!
