I know I've seen it before...searched high and low and can't seem to find it.

Can someone post a link?

Thanks,

Shane

Hi Shane. I saw your cry for help. :) I have a Pilot 823 and I too remembered that someone came up with a way to fill up the Pilot 823. I haven't tried it out myself yet but I will give the instructions as he (his username is 'downwithpc27') wrote it out himself:

"For anyone who hasn't seen my post in the Japanese subsection, here's the process I discovered for getting a near 100% fill every time

1) Take the empty pen and fill it up as you would normally. It should fill somewhere around 2/3 of the way

2) Flip the pen over, so that the nib points up

3) Pull the plunger back, so that the rod is fully extended (don't worry, this step is clean. just make sure ink doesn't drip off of the nib)

4) Carefully push the air bubble out of the pen. As soon as you can't see any more air, stop

5) Hold the blind cap firmly, so that the pressure from the vacuum doesn't push it back out

6) Flip the pen over, stick it back into the bottle, keeping the plunger depressed

7) Expel all of the ink, then fill like normal

It will fill almost all the way to the top, guaranteed!"

Thanks so much! I thought I was going crazy because I knew I had seen something about it in an old post...

P.S. I recently got an Amber 823 and I LOVE it!

That's good - mission accomplished. Perhaps you had already found the answer on filling completely the Pilot Custom 823 but I had to send the information to you.

I too have an Amber, with the F nib. I think this pen is extremely good. However, I wished I had bought it with the M nib; the F nib is just a little too fine for me. Other than that, the Custome 823 is in my view a very good pen. I have a Pilot Custom 74 black smoke with an M nib so I tend to use that more. But if the Pilot 823 had the M nib then that would be my ideal pen.

Enjoy your pen, Sir.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
