They are indeed lovely pens. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

"The cultured man is the man whose interior consciousness is forever obstinately writing down, in the immaterial diary of his psyche's sense of life, every chance aspect of every new day that he is lucky enough to live to behold!" - John Cowper Powys

Gorgeous pens! I like the array of pictures you used.

I lost the opportunity to get one, but having recently bought my second Montegrappa Symphony, well, I had to sacrify the sterling silver :crybaby:. I'm not too fond of sterling silver fountain pens, but Montegrappa (old style), well, that's another ball game.

I wish at that time I would have gotten that pen for it was being sold at a reduced price.

I think Fountain Pen Hospital currently has a few Montegrappa 80th Anniversary pens listed in their Backroom at a VERY good price.

The 80th anniversary is a beautiful looking pen, but from your pictures looks a bit small for my tastes. At that price it is still tempting.... However, I recently spent my pen budget, so I guess I'll just add it to my wish list.

The Montegrappa 80th Anniversary is not what I would call an extra-large pen, but it is certainly on the larger side of standard sized pens, comparable to a Montblanc 146 or Pelikan 600 or even near the traditional OMAS Paragon size. If folk want I can probably take a comparison picture of it.

Hmm...

The side by side picture in your review of the YoL Viceroy Grand Victorian includes both the the Montegrappa 80th Anniversary and YoL Grand Victorian which is the comparison of most interest to me. From the picture it looks to me that both are about the same diameter with the YoL being significantly longer when capped or unposted. The YoL is long more than long enough I don't need to post it. The Montegrappa has threads for posting the cap, which would be nice if one needs/wants a longer pen. So overall this puts the Montegrappa at the smaller end of my comfort zone: definetly worth considering.

That's pretty close. It is certainly hard to go wrong with either.

Or both. :D If only I had an unlimited budget. The YoL is still in production, so I guess the Montegrappa goes to somewhere near the head of the wishlist! If it's still in stock at that price in a few months...

This one was selling for $400!!! But it was not an 80th anniversary. Thanks, but I already blew my pen budget as well as my photography budget...:headsmack:
