Is Herbin Rouge Caroubier A Very Wet Ink ?

Hi everybody,

I already have the Sheaffer Skrip red and the Waterman red inks. Yes, they are red but somewhat too dry for me. I really like very wet inks like J.Herbin Lierre Sauvage or Aurora for example.

Could you please advise if the Herbin Rouge Caroubier is a very wet ink ?

Thanks a lot

Patrick

I wouldn't say it's that wet, no. The other thing you should know about this ink is that the colour is not very saturated. If you are looking for a punchy, saturated red (like I was) you might be disappointed.

I'm a Herbin lover, but unless you're running VERY large nibs like a 1.5, you'll be disappointed. This isn't a particularly wet ink either.

If staining isn't an issue, you might try PR's Fiesta Red. That one does run comfortably wet and I like the performance.

Sort of a second. I find that ink very wet but only with a broad nib. Then it is IMO one of the wettest reds. More so than, say, Skrip's (Slovenien), Poppy, 1670, Oxblood, Syrah etc.

Also -- under those circumstances -- much wetter than most other Herbins.
