Hero 100:

Green Maned Lion

Recommended Posts

Your review made me want to pull out my Hero 100 Stainless Flighter and ink it up. I filled it up yesterday and have been using it for 2 days straight. I forget how much I really like how the pen writes.

I only have 2 complaints about this pen.

1. The cap scratches the body finish as it is being posted and unposted.

2. The clip, although spring loaded, is very rigid and sharp, therefore I am afraid that it will rip my shirt pocket.

If you can overlook those 2 things, it writes superb. I dare to say that it writes every bit as good as the Parker 51 that I have.

I have been buying Hero and Duke pens for a few years now and I have noticed that the pens are improving. If my 2 Duke sharks are an indication, a lot.

All the Hero Pens sold from my website are guaranteed against defects. The only issues we had was the Hero 100 in Gold that we discontinued. Unfortunately, the Hero pens sold in the USA are (suspected fakes) were not real Hero pens but a very close replicas. All the pens on my site are the true authentic pens and sold for much less at: www.isellpens.com .

How ironic! Fake _Chinese_ pens.

These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value.--Thomas Paine, "The American Crisis", 1776

Todd,

I would be curious to see a list of the most popular pens that you are selling? Are they mostly Heros or are you selling mostly other pens on your site. Any inishgt from a pen seller would be helpful.

I have had good luck buying from your site, and I am awaiting a shipment of Heros and a couple of Dukes.

So you're saying that the Hero pens sold by any US vendor other than yourself are fakes? That's a very serious accusation, and I hope you have some pretty good evidence to back it up.

I too would be *very* interested in the response to your question.

BilltheEditor, Sorry it seems you took offense to this comment.

I did not mention any specific vendor/seller or imply any specific person and note the word " suspect" and this would NOT be something that I need to back-up. Simply put my pens are guaranteed and authentic.

That's an excellent question. We really sell a variety of pens. Hero is one of our top seller's but we sell many other brands in large volumes. We are one of the fastest growing sites on the net and have been selling for about 10 years. Our most popular models: Hero #100, #M2016, #800,#187#132 #M616 Jumbo, #86. Also very popular are the Haolilai pens like #601,#305 and #801. We have also had a positive response to our new Dinuoyang pens and have sold out many models on the first round. Other popular pen lines are Jinhao Dragon pens and Duke #2007, #2009 and Duke #209 Calligraphy.

I notice the original statement and your reply are what I would call "weasel-worded." That offends me more than the original statement, which shocked me more than offended. My question was a simple request for clarification. However, in your own way, you have told me all I need to know.

I'm not clear on this. The wording of your statement is truly confusing to me. I can read it as referring to current vendors, or as referring to some time in the past.

Are you saying you are the ONLY source in the US for genuine Hero pens? Or, another way to looks at it, are there sellers in the US, other than you, who supply genuine Hero pens?

(edited) FWIW, I am a satisfied customer of your site, and am planning another order after the first of the year. I also buy from other sites, and want to get as clear a picture as I can of who sells what.

Yes, there are others selling genuine Hero products in the USA too and I am not the only source selling authentic Hero pens. Several fakes have been sold in the past on places like eBay and not just Hero but numerous other brands.

Hi,

People would fake anything. :( I used to own a fake Hero.

I wondered about this myself, because Heros are inexpensive pens and there's not a lot of profit margin. I guess it's because so many Hero pens are sold in China. Someone could make money even if there were only a smallish profit on each fake pen, if he or she sold a lot of them.

Do you think Hero pens will start to increase their prices later on as they grow older and produce better pens into the market?

Thanks

Brad

Heros are nice writers, but I HATE it when I don't use my pen for a several days and when I go to pick them up again, they have problems flowing.

I don't know if they will increase their prices, but it would seem logical that as they can charge more, they would do so.

I know about the flow problem of which you speak, as I have experianced it in a few WingSung parker 21 copies (Note: those 3-set WingSung 612s that have been selling around are NOT Parker 51 types, they are standard nibs with a hood). You leave them to go for a while and they will not start without a dip.

The Hero 100 I have does NOT have that problem. *picks it ups for the first time in more than a week* Just to make sure... *writes with it* Ok, the Hero reviewed here writes fine after more than a week of inactivity, loaded with Noodler's Eternal Hunter Green.
