Cleaning A Kaweco Sport

Hi all, I plan to use a different colour ink in my Classic Kaweco Sport, so I will need a thorough clean. I tried to pull the feed out but it ends in vain. I do not want to apply excessive force which might damage the nib. Could someone advice how could I thoroughly clean my Kaweco Sport, except flushing it under a water tap? Thanks in advance.

Get a converter for international cartridges and use it to pull fresh water through the section/feed until you have flushed the old ink out. It doesn't matter if the converter is too long for the barrel as you do this with the barrel off.

Though there are many other sources and brands.

or just use the sort of rubber squeeze bulb that you can by at the pharmacy for cleaning out ears.

thank guys, I think flushing is my only option, I obtained an empty international cartridge with no bottow in an A G Spalding fp I bought, it is pretty useful to flush a pen with a syringe. Anyway thank you for replying.

 

I found spare nibs for Kaweco sold on Cut Pens, but they comes with the feed. I suppose it is screwed up onto a body, so I guess it is not possible to pull the feed out or to separate the nib from the feed.

no bottom.. so I attached the no bottom cartridge to a syringe to flush the feed and nib. I am not sure whether the no bottom cartridge is for cleanings, but I find it quite useful.

Ultra sonic cleaner also an option. Ear bulb best/cheapest, tho.

In spite of reading the Cult Pens instructions, I have found it impossible to remove the nibs (they are supposed to be a screw fit). Also, I have a black F nib and a blue M nib, and the shape, profile and feed of each pen is entirely different! Very odd.

Not all models of the Kaweco Sport range have screw in nib units. The Classic Sport does not. The models with screw in nib units are: AL Sport, AC Sport, Art Sport, Luxe.

Hi Waldenser, by screw in nib units, do you mean the nib could be separate from the feed by screwing it out? So I could directly clean the feed? I only own Sports Classic, perhaps when I own one of the higher ends of Kaweco Sports I will understand what you mean. Anyway thanks for your reply.

By nib unit I mean nib and feed are pressfitted in a plastic sleeve, and this complete unit is screwed into the section. The nib and feed are pretty tight fit in that sleeve. You would probably have to use a punch to get them out - I have not tried it yet.

In all the Kaweco Sports that I have had, the nib and feeds are friction fit in the section. I pull them out using an anti-clockwise twisting motion (but they are not threaded). These are the plastic Sports, not the AL's.
