I can't even write 2 sentences with a Jotter before I get angry...

Anything sub $20 that takes Parker refills and is of decent quality (plastic is fine)

Thanks

We must be in each other's thought streams. So far, I have come up with the Faber-Castell Grip ($14), and the Faber-Castel Basic BP ($27). The Basic is more comfortable, but I can't bring myself to pay twice the price of the Grip.

Parker Vector Ballpoint. Wider than the Jotter and a good pen. Often available on Ebay for ~$10.

Found a promo freebie Parker "Frontier" recently. Decent writer, comfortable grip, poorly built. Fell apart long before the refill was used up. Luckily one of my co-workers uses Parker BPs so it wasn't a complete waste.

Sorry I wasn't more helpful, but I guess there's a recommendation for what not to buy!:)

I really like the Fisher Zero Gravity series, good size pen, not slim like most of the Fishers. This can be had for around $20.

Parker big red BP takes the same refill as a Jotter. PM me Garageboy, I have one you can have.

Thanks for the offer 79spitfire, but this is going to be for a pen that will potentially be swiped by a client, left of a job site, etc (i work in engineering)

I'd feel really bad if that happened to a gift

It would have helped if you told us what makes you angry with the Jotter. My blind shot would be to offer Parker Urban as one choice.

I know you're not asking me the question, but the one and only knock I have on the Jotter is its girth at the gripping area. Otherwise, the Jotter is a rock solid workhorse. I prefer the the plastic barrel to SS version.

Pay attention to the pens that companies give away. A lot of the fatter pens will take Parker style refills. Since they were free pens it won't bother you too much if they get lost or left behind. Sometimes the refills that are in them write abysmally though. You buy a great refill to put in it, then you'll lose the pen, get another pen, and have to buy a new refill.

The big blue end is very soft and very comfortable to write with. It uses standard Parker ballpoint or gel refills.

The jotter is way too slim and slides out between my fingers too easily (it's the shape)

Parker Reflex. Basically a Jotter with a larger (and IMHO more comfortable) rubber grip.

You might check out the Staples "Delta Elite." It has a large, triangular, rubberized grip, takes Parker refills, and they seem fairly well made, though the finish got scratched fairly easily. At two for less than $6, the price is right.

See here.

Caran D'Ache Metal or 849 series. Best ballpen for your buck, hands down. Takes a parker refill IIRC and is about $16.

Sorta- but haven't really made up my mind yet

Just got myself a Delta Elite, but I actually like the polystyrene plastic the jotter uses and prefer no rubber grip

Probably thinking wayy to much about a cheapie pen

This thread and the Best Ball Point Refill thread made me buy a Caran d'Ache 849 Original. Again I say "Behold the power of the FPN!" :notworthy1:
