An overblown hideous piece of junk......and yet it still has more appeal,to me, than a boring MB 149. Thanks

I haven't seen the definitive picture of one. The one that was posted earlier on the forum was silver are really repulsive, but a Google search coughs up some photos that are gold and not nearly as crazy. Not totally gutter punk. But it is referred to as the dragon pen, not the chaos pen.

The picture you're posting, honestly, looks like an alright pen, maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but I can see it meriting production. The original picture in this thread is hopefully an earlier variant...

both the pens are different. though i have heard a lot of negative comments about stallone on this forum, i have always like his mannerisms on film. he does not do over the top macho roles and mostly comes out as a common man caught in uncommon circumstances.

i hope that m g makes a pen which will be a joy for all.

I agree with you, on that, Stallone is a good, if not great actor. He is certainly an icon of film, and while some of his roles are no more than cheesy shoot em' ups, he has given excellent performances as well.

I don't have a problem with Mr. Stallone as an actor, or even a brand ambassador. I do have a bit of a problem with the pens Montegrappa seems to be making in tribute to him. Ugly is all I can say about those.

:yikes: Whoa! this guy's a trip! Reminds me of a modern version of this - Hieronymus Bosch

The Dragon pen was released long before Stallone was involved, 1995 as I remember, so Montegrappa is not new to these elaborate overlays... The Chaos is the first pen Stallone is involved with... And even though its not my cup of tea, I think its great that a company is trying to get some more spotlight on Pens in general. I think its good for the industry. So many people are going away from fountain pens, and it some cases, lots of professions/businesses are going 100% paperless. So much is all going digital, so any boost is a good boost. Otherwise, companies could start dropping off.

So someone buys this pen, because they like Stallone realize... Hey, I like fountain pens, what else is there out there that I can use every day? Then there is a new converted FP user! Thats a win in my book! :)

I'm really surprised you are excited about this. It's a Panerai, boys with toys thing. I like it, but not nearly enough to take the hit to buy it. What would make me do that , well, maybe all black and silver work, no bright red and yellow, and no gold for sure. And maybe they went just a tad over on so much metal. But the incredible ancient bird is a lot of metal too, and that's one of the most breathtaking pens I've seen. I guess it's an age thing, pot bellied old men trying to regain their youth. I'm not quite as old as Sly but not all that far off and I have a real beer belly. I like the toys he like and can't wait for the expendables so there's always room for something gaudy. The one thing about this pen that would worry though the way the metal is, I think it's likely only for show, wouldn't be comfortable to write with. But then I really think the pen is for a very limited audience just like Panerai.

This pen is more like a sculpture. you can like it or you don`t, doesn`t matter. It is sad that in my view (view only since I didn`t see it live or held it) it looses completely the usability or am I wrong?

What`s the weight? Half kilo? So i don`t see it as a good input for the FP industry I like the Delta Chatterley LE`s far more better!

The first thought in my mind was "biker pen". I agree with the sentiment: "if you can't say anything nice...."

Oh, and Bryant's new pens are beautiful (my wife and I each bought one).

The guy has had way too much growth hormone and steroids.

He was allegedly one of the designers so you would not expect sedate or boring.

But it is a comic book pen.

I know my Eternal Bird I got off Bry is way out there but it is perfect to use and the nib is - in my opinion- the best modern nib I have used.

Big call.

Agreed. As I continue to work through my "buy" list, some of them are getting *very* close to the top of the list.

Yeah, if I could fine the eternal bird at a good deal, it would be on the top of my list. It's not nearly as busy and looks to me to be a pen that is useable. I like the Chaos, just question if it isn't a trophy more than a pen. The eternal bird is imposing but beautiful and usable.

wonder what mr. stallone and m g will cook up next. who buys these pens, that is one question to which i have never found an answer!

i wonder how they hit on a design idea, do they do any market study or take feedback from their collectors, from where the inspiration comes from etc.

if someone gave me that pen i will be non plussed, i am a user and not a collector and if i took out that pen, there will be a crowd around me and i may be taken to a lunatic asylum, where i will be diagnosed as one on the symptom of possessing this pen. there will be a lot of other people there some running around with poles imagining themselves to be arthur's knights, some clutching metal rings and ruuning around thinking they are speeding on the autobahn in a bmw etc. etc. and my pen and i will fit in nicely in the crowd.
