My Personal Pocket Notebook

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I am excited to announce the books were completed this afternoon. I have added some protective card stock to both sides and then shrink wrapped them. This weekend I am going to prepare the packages for the post office Monday morning.

Wow:

I can hardly wait. Dusting off the heirphoto Latigo leather cover. Getting ready for a week of in the trenches, use. I'm excited. How long before you go into full production with sales on the For Sale sub forum? Have a wonderful weekend, Jim

Hi Jim,

I too am super excited for the members to try these books out! I am really happy how they turned out. I inspected each book and shrink wrapped them myself. I still do not know how much longer till they will be for sale. i am awaiting a key part of the packaging and also working on the website where they will be available from. At this time I do not want to offer them for sale until everything is in place.

Could you pass on information about the different covers you mentioned? I tried to search for them and could not find anything.

Thanks and have a good weekend!

Hi CTF, it appears you have a great paper there, the tests show great behavior on FP ink, do you plan to sell you product worldwide? Ask that because I'm in Brazil and some folks don't ship here.

Hi broker,

Thanks for your question. I do indeed plan on shipping worldwide. I am still working on details in regards to this though.

Hi Folks,

"teaser" photo:

Love the simple design. Mmmm simplicity

Hi RedSox04,

Did you want to try a book? I don't believe you sent me your mailing address.

I love notebooks, so my feelings are that there are never enough choices. :-)

Will it be just blank or lined paper or will we get something else like dots to choose from? What about the paper itself? Weight, color choices, etc. Will it be a one style fits all or will it be an "order to your liking" type style?

Let's keep it a uniform size so covers we have can be used on it without buying special covers. What are the sizes you want to produce to start with?

Look forward to seeing the early product types.

Hi Surfbits,

I do not believe you sent me your mailing address yet. If you would like to try a book please send me your mailing address.

This looks lovely - can't wait to hear the first glimpse reviews.

And it is good to hear you are considering shipping O/S as well. :)

Got my notebook today...I'm going to put it through its paces for the next few days and post a review after that. I will post a spoiler warning on the top of the thread so if you have a notebook coming to you and you want to keep the surprise factor, then simply don't read the review. See you in a few days!

Looking forward to the review. Would have liked to run them side by side to several others I have here but will do so based on your reviews. Seems I missed out on a review one, so look forward to seeing the reviews coming down the pike...

Here's the review, but be nice - I've never done one before. Remember that it is a total spoiler if you have one on the way to you and you'd like to keep it a surprise! Edited by psychdude

My notebook arrived yesterday. Initial impressions are quite positive.

Going to make a medium term test before I make my final comments. I concur, so far, with the positive comments that others have posted but I feel that to come back in a couple of months and make comments may be useful too. I plan to make this my notebook for my trip to the Languedoc in about six weeks time. At the moment I am making a few lists at the front of the book. Time will tell if it stands up to the rigours of such a trip and if it is big enough for such purposes. I normally use a Clairefontaine Roadbook which has, frankly, too many pages for my purposes. This book might be the right kind of size.

The size is good, the number of pages might be just about right, the paper quality is excellent and I like the dock for my pen.

I am really looking forward to using it in the run up and during the trip.

Got mine yesterday--AMAZING.

Great paper for drawing- no heavy bleed through using Platinum Carbon Black--no feathering--crisp clean lines---hoping there will be large hard cover versions!!

These are better then Moleskine paper for fountain pens and a heavier stock. Took colored pencil well and pastel well and watercolor very nicely.

GREAT PRODUCT!!

Here is the LINK to the few photos I took on Flickr {which stinks because they changed their format and now i can not seem to highlight the part of the code i need to upload a picture--aaarrgghhhh!!} and sorry for the blue haze--the paper is actually very nice and white!

Me too. Also, I like the notch a lot more than I anticipated.

We seem to have 2 discussion threads with comments/reviews of this new notebook. Can the great powers of the mods 'swoooopp' them into one?

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
