I'm awaiting the arrival of a Fuji X100 (that LOOKS like a rangefinder).

I'm putting up my old website this week. In only have about 40 images up, all from the Lower 9th Ward post-Katrina. All were taken with an M6 and a Tri-Elmar.

No Leica or rangefinder for me, but I have a Pentax MX, which is the smallest 35mm SLR in the world.

Here it is, with an SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/1.4 installed. :)

And since old Pentax K-mount lenses fit on new Pentax DSLRs too, I bought this winter a used Pentax *ist DL2. The only drawback is that with the manual lenses I have to use stop-down metering, but there's a little button for that on the camera.

Yep, I'm on RFF too. Been into film cameras for a lot longer than fountain pens. But in a funny way, they do seem to go well together. I have an M6 and but over the past few years have gravitated into medium format with a Hassy. It's all good.

My RFF name is 'bmasonoh'

Ahh, a Fed. They have their own following... Fun cameras. :)

Nice, Rick. Years ago, someone was actually "developing" a drop-in digital sensor in the shape of a 35mm can. Sadly, it never made it into production and was essentially vaporware. I agree, that would be pretty cool. Maybe as technology continues to advance we'll see such a product some day. That's the hope, anyway... No biggie if not - I like film.

Well, that woul be fantastic for the old cameras and lenses stocked in the closet. Sometimes I dream of such a device for fountain pens so we can write in the pc.

My Pentax MX's and I have been together for over 30 years. I bought my first MX with 50mm 1.4 when I was a teenager. I have picked up a few more used MX's over the years. Although I like my Leica M6 there is a special bond with my MX. happyberet.gif

My 3 old Nikons now gathering dust. They are an S, S2 and SP. I suppose I could just about buy a box of BICs if I sold them.

Yesterday I was talkin with an old friend, he have been 50 years wedding and everyrything else photographer and by the way he was receiving this days a recognition in a ceremony from the city major for those years, he showed me his old Mamiya medium format and he mentioned that was looking for a back for the camera that allows him to take digital photos with his old camera and lens, my question is, is this posible? and what about 35 mm cameras? I have a lot of equipment stocked and geting dust in the closet. does anybody knows something about it?

Leica made the first 35mm digital back for their Leica R8/R9 cameras in 2006. I believe Mamiya followed suit with their medium format digital back in 2007 while the Hassie version came out 2 years later. Currently if you own legacy Leica M glasses one way to go digital is buy the Ricoh GXR Mount A12. Many enthusiasts who own other 35mm legacy lenses opt for the Sony NEX series (via 3rd party adapters). Many buy the Sony not for what it is but a sort of digital back for their film camera lenses of old.

The reason I bought the Fed was to gain access to Leica screw mount lenses. Off of what I was being paid, it was about the only way to do so. Went to camera show in Tucson and ended up with a 50's era 85mm? Leica lens. The thing blew my mind. Hurt like hell when I had to sell it and my amazing Nikon FM3a. Layoffs are not fun.

Thanks Pincel, do you know if Sony Nex cameras work with Canon manual lenses? I have almost 20 and obviously would like to use them in digital context.

...or check listings at amazon.com : http://www.amazon.co...o+N%2Caps%2C231

also there's an offering by Metabones with a price of $399.00, if you want true electronic integration of aperture diaphragm - let camera automatically choose aperture in P or S exposure modes, or dial in yourself on the camera body in A or M modes.

I just picked up a Sony NEX 6 camera, I have Leica M and Contax/Nikon RF lens adapters for it. You can get adapters for just about any lens nowadays. I took it out for the first time with my 1950's Nikkor P.C 85/2. This was shot wide open - not exactly the best lens for action shots!

Slightly late reply:

As I have seen people shooting with a Mamiya 67 and a digital back: yes, it should be possible :). Do note that the digital back has a sensor which is significantly smaller than a 6x7 film frame, so each lens effectively becomes a longer lens than it really is.

As to other lenses/cameras: people mentioned this already, and yes, it is possible with many lenses. For 35mm analog lenses many adapters exist - I own quite a few. The only difficulties one encounters are lenses with a short register distance, f.e., Konica/Minolta lenses. On e.g., 4/3 and micro 4/3 almost any lens can be adapted, as is true for most compact camera systems.

Anything in the 645 series that is older than the auto focus version can't be used with a digital back. Only the 645 auto focus version and newer can be used with a digital back.

Never had or used medium format or autofocus, it is just that I have tons of slr and cheap rangefinder cameras like canonettes. Right now I am looking for a new zoom 55-300 or something more or less in that range, I have a nikon d-3200 with a 18-55.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
