Parker Vacumatic Oversize, wouldn't mind to buy one if I had the money

I'm a user, baby.

We love what we do not possess. Plato, probably about pens.

Ah, an old, old thread resurrected.

My favourite over sized pen is also one I happen to own.

It is the Classic Pens ZJ1 Mosaique. They made only 40 pens (well, they did also make 10 in solid 18K gold, but they were not priced for mortal owners). They use the largest size of Bock nib (mine is a Binderized XF) and makes a MB 149 droop with nib envy! I chose the sterling version.

My second favourite is also a Classic Pens product, but this time a prototype of what will some day be the ZJ2, using the Mythos shape, also with an oversized nib (a Binder Italifine with 0.5 italic one side and XXF on the other). I chose the yellow gold version.

I read one review of a really giant pen here on FPN... But what was it?

It was an overlay, and among other pictures one on the bonnet of a Rolls Royce - stating something like: one of these has a big thirst.

It took a lot of laughing reactions, but - hey - it was really huge.

What was it again???

The largest pens in my collection of mainly Parker 51s and Esties are three Pelikan 800s (black, red, and green).

I once owned the Pelikan M1000 (green), but sold it because I found it too large and top heavy when posted.

I'm a letter writer, so my collection consists of pens that enable me to comfortably write multi-page letters.

That's got to be the biggest, at 228 mm it's approaching novelty size..

Next to that, so far as I know, is the positively diminutive Urushi Makie edition of Sailor's King of Pens at 153 mm.

Below those are the 149, Viceroy Grand, M1000, et al.

Given the age of this thread, there are two wonderful pens that haven't been mentioned: Pilot Custom Urushi and Wahl-Eversharp Decoband Oversize.

For me, the order of preference is:

1 - Pelikan M1000/1005/1050

2 - Wahl-Eversharp Decoband Oversize

3 - Pilot Custom Urushi (it is actually a toss up between 2 and 3)

4 - Waterman Edson (Stub nib)

5 - MB 149 Calligraphy

6 - Delta Dolcevita Oversize

7 - Sailor KoP

8 - The regular MB 149's

The largest pen I own is an Opus 88 Demonstrator. It's not gargantuan but bigger than the M2xx/4xx I mostly use and it works pretty well.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

The best oversize pen is a matte black Ebonite Ranga Majestic, no clip, no rings. Next to a puny M1005

Add lightness and simplicate.

I have Duke Confucius which is really great pen, too heavy for regular writing but ideal for signatures.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
