I've fallen in love with the M800. Size and weight unposted are perfect.

Sorry couldn't resist. I find the M800 too tail heavy even unposted for everyday use. I prefer the M400s.

M800 is perfect for my hand. The only downside is that it doesn't fit as nicely in my shirt pocket as the M600. Next time I have shirts made I'm going to get deeper pockets and I've seen little, I'll call them compartments for lack of a better word, inside the breast pocket that the pens slide down in. This keeps them from shifting around and rubbing together.

For everyday writing, I would have to say the M600. It's the perfect size and weight when posted.

If I'm sitting at my desk, though, the M800 unposted is also really lovely.

It seems that whether a writer posts the cap or not is a key factor in determining which size he/she prefers.

I am a poster, hence the preference for the 400 size. I have owned M600s in the past and could easily see me becoming a convert to that size, but for now it's the 400.

I also have an MB146 in my regular rotation and have no problem with the size when writing. However, the M400 wins in the pocketability category, which is just as important to me.

For some, there's always someone for whom that doesn't make a difference.

I don't post any of my pens, and I still prefer my M400s for everyday writing. I also own:

- M600s - the section bugs me, I don't find it that comfortable.

- M800s - I find it tail heavy and unbalanced in my hand

- M700 - balanced, but for extended sessions I prefer light pens

- 1935s Original of their times 1935s - close second to the M400.

The size of the pen is only one variable here. Hand size of the writer is a major contributor to choice, and my hands are very large! The other factor is preference for weight, or heft of a pen. The M800 feels like a pen of substance, and the lighter weight pens feel like toys by comparison, IMHO.

The bottom line is this; Pelikan has made some very savvy marketing decisions in making such a wide range of sizes available, so that there is something to suit all hand sizes and preferences. I cannot think of any other pen manufacturer that does this to the same extent.

I have several Pelikans but I feel more comfortable with my M800. I think it is not only a question of weight because the Polar Lights is heavier but I still prefer the M800. But I have to say that I never tried a M1000

Currently inked: M800 (Pelikan Blue-Black), M400 (Qink Blue-Black), 400NN (Pelikan Black), 120 (Pelikan Turquoise) and 100N (Pelikan Royal Blue)

I have pens in many different sizes. I did try the M800 but found it a bit tail heavy. I prefer light pens. I liked my M600 so much that subsequently I have acquired 2 more. I find the balance, feel, weight just about perfect. Would like to try the M400, but am fearful that it is too small.

Voted the M800, though I haven't tried the M1000. Given my big hands, I might like it more than even my M805!

Well, I am a short female with small hands and my favorite is the M8xx size, though I really want an M1000, as well. Larger pens keep my hands from cramping during longer writing sessions. However, I do still own an M605, M400, and M205 as well. They just don't get as much use as the M805.

That's funny, I am a tall male with very big hands and I prefer the 200/400 size.

Preference for size of pen does not seem to be linked to size of hands.
