Waterproof/bulletproof With No Nib Creep?

I love the qualities of Noodler's inks, but the nib creep drives me up the freakin' wall. I like my nibs shiny and clean. I get this with my current inks (Namiki blue in my VP and Lamy purple in my Studio, both cartridges) but I want waterproof if at all possible. I've ordered some Lamy blue-black carts for my Vista, as I read on here that IG inks are waterproof, but I'd like a nice regular blue for my VP as it's my main writer. Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Pilot/Namiki Blue is water-proof from my own test. Pilot/Namiki Black & Blue-Black are also waterproof IIRC. Also Pelikan 4001 Black & Blue-Black are also waterproof from personal usage. But Pelikan Royal Blue is NOT waterproof. Diamine Registrar's ink which is Iron-Gal is also very permanent and water-proof and no nib creep from personal experience as well. It is also a really nice wonderful looking color.

Private Reserve Invincible Black is also water/bleach proof and without any nib creep issues according to couple of reviews on FPN.

Lamy BB carts are not iron gall. The bottled BB is iron gall.

Noodlers nib creep and crust drives me a bit nuts, too, but it gets the job done when needed.

Inked:

Pelikan m205 black 0.9ci/F Italifine (Diamine Damson);

Aurora 88 nikargenta (Iroshizuku Kon-Peki);

Pelikan 140 Steno (J Herbin Lie de Thé)

@pokoko: You mean I'm already using something waterproof? Rock! I'll keep the PR in mind should I ever want black ink, but I'm not a fan of that color ink. (Which is weird, because almost every single piece of clothing in my closet is black. But for ink I like some color!)

@gillyohan: Darn. Oh well. I'll still try it, but I'm sad that the carts and bottles are different. How odd that they did that...

The black isn't particularly, and the blue-black turns blue when the black washes out. :)

edit to add: but the blue is a really excellent and highly recommended choice for someone who just wants simple water resistance and good behavior (if they don't mind a fairly staid blue).

I find the iron gall inks nib-creepy, too (doesn't bother me, though). I have Montblanc Blue-Black and Chesterfield Archival Vault (aka repackaged Diamine Registrar's Ink) and both have nib creep. But they are very nice colors, and waterproof.

Find my homemade ink recipes on my Flickr page here.

Holy moly! I inadvertently tested the waterproofness of Namiki blue. Last night I put out the trash and the recycle bins. It's rained all day. It was coming down really heavy earlier, actually. Well, when I went out to bring the bins in, an index card I had made a grocery list on had stuck to the side of the paper bin. And even though the card was soaked and dripping wet, the list looked almost as good when it did when I wrote it. Less crisp, of course, but still wonderfully legible. I'm quite impressed!

Caligatia, I saw Lamy BB in a 50mL bottle at Sam Flax in Orlando for only $8. Great deal if you are near there. I was going to get their BB myself to try next time I'm there. You can always use a syringe to fill the empty carts if you want iron gall in cart format.

I use Sailor nano black (kiwaguro) and blue-black (seiboku) a lot at work. They are waterproof (able to rinse under tap after being written), able to be highlighted over, and dries very fast. They do not nib creep in my Sailor EF but creeps a very tiny amount along the nib slit in my Pilot Decimo.

don't want nib creep? I heard placing a little wax on the nib works wonders.... YMMV

Hi,

The seiboku is pretty amazing stuff, even if it is high maintenance.

If you think it may be dark or Blue-Black, just dilute the majik fluid. It holds together at 10% strength: one part ink plus 9 parts [distilled] water. So if one isn't all that keen on Blue coloured ink, but wants some around 'just in case', then that's an option.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
