Valentine's Gift

So... Valentine's Day!!!!...

I need to get my girlfriend something and since I love pens, I thought I'd get her one! But which one...

I don't want a big expensive one, NO MB'S!!!!! She writes a lot, and colors a lot... so I was thinking of a really bright one that doesn't break the bank! Maybe a colorful Safari along with a colorful ink... Under $50 would be great!

I don't think it'll be something she'll write with all the time... So although TWSBI's are amazing, ehhhh... No

So suggestions? I know I'm leaving it quite broad because I want a lot of suggestions :)

Every time there is a negative in life there is always a positive. A failed test, a relationship gone sour. Whatever it may be, your life is not over. If you dwell on the negative you can`t see the world with the right eyes. There is a positive in every moment, even if it is small. Try your whole life to find that positive and live off of it and you will be loved. My blog... Check it!!!

I think your first instincts of getting her a Safari are pretty good. If she's a girly girl the pink ones, if you ca still get them, would be my top choice.

The above is MY opinion. Would you expect it to be from someone else?

I was going to suggest the red Pelikan that comes in the heart shaped box. (That's what I want for valentines.) However, that is a little over your budget. I second the Safari in pink or the All Star in raspberry.

Which one? And I COULD stretch the range :)

I suggest a Safari in pink with a bunch of samples from GouletSwab Shop or Pear Tree (No association with either, etc) and a converter!

Pens...as a Valentines gift? I would just spend $50 dollars on high quality paper and some Caran d'Ache ink, get out your best pen and start writing some love letters:)

Already started :) Well... not Caran d'Ache... But still! Way ahead of ya!

Caran d'Ache...I love the bottles...whenever I buy that ink, I feel like I'm buying a fancy bottle that comes with some ink in it! Anyway... good luck on your letter! A tip?: I start mine with "I have lain awake many nights to try and compose an elegant letter......."

If you could stretch the range, you should look at the Pelikan m205 highlighter SE. It is a cool yellow.

I am very bad with model numbers. I know it is a ruby red Pelikan that comes in a heart shaped box. Printhardcopy here on FPN had some. Help me out here anybody?

I'm pretty certain its the M300 but its almost 200 dollars. I want one myself not as a Valentine's Day gift but because I love red pens.

It was the Pelikan m320 that for some reason were released (announced even?) too late for Valentine's Day last year. Or maybe that was just in the US? They do come in heart boxes, so I hope they were on time somewhere. Under $200 would have to be a sale. They're more like 5x the imagined budget. It's probably much more affordable that that Conway Stewart Valentine's pen though.

Think about one of the Japanese long cap pocket pens from the '60s and '70s if she doesn't need a broad nib and likes posting the cap most of the time. Go Pilot if she needs to have a converter rather than syringe in cartridge. All the companies did designs ranging from really girly to macho.

The budget is why I also suggested the pink Safari and the raspberry All Star. I have the pink Safari and just love it! It is such a pretty pink and is great to write with. Plus I can take it all kinds of aves with me and not worry about it as it is also quite sturdy.

The Ruby m320 is about 250 dollars (the best price at Mell's pens) I have a rarely used black duplicate in my collection available for 100 to any student with limited budget.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
