Vintage Pen Id

Just picked up four vintage Japanese pens. One of them has a name written in katakana on the clip and on the barrel. So what pen is this?

Thanks Kevin. It was what I suspected but I needed confirmation.

I can now declare an eBay sumgai. :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:

I paid $9.99 for this pen.

Congratulations, AltecGreen. What were the other 3? Do they all work?

The others are a Makoto, Comet, and Morison. This Sailor is a wartime pen. Apparently Sailor switched to barrel imprints using katakana during the war years. Pre-war and post-war pens had barrel imprints using English. That's why I was unsure of the id.

All four have the potential to work. I filled them with water and they don't immediately leak. I'll try them with ink tomorrow.

Todd and I have been talking about repairing these types of pens. I managed to get one of mine (a Vanco) apart and restored. All we need to do to your pen is to get the rear threaded piece off the barrel. The repair is pretty straightforward after that. Getting the piece to come off is the trick.

Congrats on the nice pen. I bought what looks like the same pen from Stan a while ago. Mine has a #5 shiro Falcon nib. I'm interested to hear what type of nib yours has too.

The pen is a bit beat up but the seal is good and the nib writes very well.

Thanks for the pen and nib shots Altergreen. The pen looks great. I think the beat up factor adds to its charm. I really like the shape of the pen!

Enjoy it,

Nikolaos
