Waterman Phileas - Universal Converter?

Can anyone confirm if a universal/international converter will work in a Waterman Phileas? I'm pretty sure I remember reading that the Waterman pens can use universal/international cartridges, so is it safe to assume I can use a similar converter in it?

I've just done a little experiment on your behalf, and found that converters from Conklin, Baoer, and Jinhao pens all fit the Phileas pen. Hope this is helpful.

Universal converters will not work in the Phileas. I ordered a Waterman converter for mine and they are available at Amazon and multiple other pen retailers.

Most universal converters won't quite fit in most Waterman pens, although sometimes you get lucky -- I got a bag of fifty cheap Chinese clone pen style universal converters off eBay a while back, and they're just narrow enough at the end to fit in at least Experts and Hemispheres. Which is good, because every converter I've had leaking problems with has been an official Waterman one.

Are you sure the converter was supposed to fit the pen which you used it in? Just saying...

Never had a leak in more than 15 years.

I have sort of the reverse question. I just bought a nice little--dirt cheap ($6.90, shipped)--Bookworm pen from China, that supposedly takes international standard cartridges. It comes with a very fragile looking slide-type converter, which is ok so far, but I sincerely doubt if it will last. I have a couple of spare Waterman Phileas converters. Are they likely to fit the Bookworm? (I know I could try and see, but if they didn't fit right, I'm assuming there might be a leaky mess--so I'm looking for some advance knowledge.) The generic question, clearly, is: do Phileas/Kultur converters fit pens that 1) take international standard cartridges, and 2) have a long enough barrel?

Thanks for any help.

Waterman seems to like its own carts and converters. But the carts hold a LOT of ink, and you can refill any cart a number of times.

Not all of them. My Jinhao X750's converter won't fit my Phileus. It's too long for the Phileus barrel.

I have a number of supposedly standard international converters (that came with Chinese pens) which fit no pen in the known universe.

Sorry to add to the chorus of dissent, but the converter I got with my Baoer 517 won't fit the Phileas, it's too wide to pass the insert in the pen barrel.

Only thing I have ever used in my Waterman Phileas is a Waterman converter but I have never had a lick of trouble with them. I have three and use them interchangeably. They also fit my Manuscript Calligraphy pen.
