Single Pen Holder For Belt?

Recommended Posts

I've seen a couple of leather pen cases, but nothing with a belt loop or clip & room for just one FP. I'm sure they exist...right?

So what's your pick for the best single pen holder you can wear on your belt?

I asked this same question several months ago. I never found exactly what I was looking for. In the end I got a pouch for a mini Maglite torch which does the job reasonably well. If you find anything better perhaps you will let us know.

aren't you afraid you will damage it when you stand against a desk?

It would feel exposed and endangered to me.

But I have no idea how I can help on this one, sorry!

I was worried about the possibility, I figured I'd train myself to be careful.

That's well possible and takes some time and care, but helps a lot. What I forget to ask was, why carry it on your hip?!

I don't know exactly, I guess something extra to add to my "utility belt" and with my job things tend to hit my chest area more than my hip.

You could buy/make a special bullet-cartridge belt and just fill it up with lots and lots of pens...

Then I'd be unstoppable!...with the pen being mightier than the sword and all...

A pocket knife holder may work. You may have to fiddle with the size of the holder and the length of your pen, not to mention the looks you might get at your local knife shop :roflmho:

I just tried one of my pens in my holder, and it was a little long to fit the velcro flap over it. I'm sure it will fit smaller pens comfortably (I know it fit my Fischer Bullet just fine. You can probably find a case that'll fit a fountain pen. Good hunting.

  • 1 year later...

If you don't have to have it in leather and you can send me measurements for the biggest pen you'd be putting it in, I could make you one out of (stiff) felt. This material has worked well for me in the past as a fairly durable but flexible and versatile sewing medium. We could negotiate the design over PM if you're interested - it'd probably be about $10 shipped.

I realize that you wanted a single pen case with a belt loop so perhaps this won't do, but the one I have is a double pen case: Aston Double Pen Case with belt loop. I find the double case to be quite useful - I can carry two fountain pens, or a fountain pen and roller ball, or a fountain pen and mechanical pencil, or....well, you get the picture! The case is very well made, comes in three different colours, vegetable tanned leather so safe for your pens, etc. Anyway, I like it! Lanier Pens is where I bought mine, the holster may be available elsewhere - hopefully for less money - but this is the only place I was able to find it. I was unable to find a comparable single pen holster.

Of course, you could also commission a local leather craftsman/woman to make you one to your exact specifications, that way you could get the single pen holder that you really want.

Some folks here are concerned about damaging pens by carrying them on your belt. I really don't see this. A friend of mine made my first "pen holster" for me when I was in college and I used it for years afterwards as well, when I was much more active than I am now. I took it with me on camping and hiking trips, etc., etc., I never damaged - or lost - a single pen or pencil that was in the case. I am not in the habit of slamming my hip against things, and as a rule I don't lean against counters or desks or... and if I did need to lean on something, well, I do have another hip. :P

I don't normally carry a bag so the convenience of hands-free pen carrying with a pen holster on my belt is perfect for me. The pens have good protection, won't fall out, the case is nice looking and a very convenient way to keep your fine writing instruments close at hand; what's not to like?!?

We have a Franklin-Christoph Penvelope Two in production now. We did a test batch and sold them out quickly. The regular production run should be complete within a few weeks.

The difference in this case is that it has full firm cloth loops inside, and then the thick boot leather outside. It leaves room for credit cards, business cards, etc.

Also, the loop is designed to make the case sit parallel with your belt, so that one can sit without the case protruding into your side, or it can also be moved around to your front, so that you don't bang things on the side.

This case is a little larger than most 2-pen cases due to the Penvelope design elements, but we'll also make another one soon without the gussets that will look a little more traditional.

These will start at $39.50. As I mentioned, the test batch sold out quickly, but we'll have more very soon!

That's very nice looking, Laila. Hope you will update us when the case is available again, and when the case without the gusset will be available as well.
