Well it's the 18th of October and i'm still wearing shorts here in blighty.

What's happened to the weather?

We've had the warmest ever July,September and apparantly October is heading

that way too.

Need some nice frost soon to kill off the bugs.

Anyone experience the early snow and cold in the US?

torrential rains, flooding and 89F with 90+ humidity.

Yeah - a bit warm here, too. we expect a "cold" front tonight or tomorrow with temps dropping to all of the high 50s if we're lucky.

I love Texas

But the "seasons" leave a lot to be desired.

It was unseasonably cold here last week, -4C (25F) on Thursday and there were flurries of snow but nothing that lasted too long. A little east of here at the eastern end of Lake Erie they had +30cm (12 inches) of snow. Electrical power was just restored yesterday to parts of Welland Ontario.

hmph! Just checked the weather. Seabreeze storms coming in ahead of the cold front. could that be why Yao Ming is being lazy? He's not afraid of them but he sure seems depressed today.

Yesterday he was cheery but as soon as we got outside and hit the humidity wall he just flopped his big wrinkly b*** on the patio.

South of Lake Erie, down to about Akron and Youngstown, saw flurries Thursday.

We are finally getting some rain and the temperature has dropped so that now it is 55 F.

We had one of the warmest and driest summers on records and it stayed warm and dry throughout September. It was a really bad year for forest fires.

That is not the norm in Western Washington.

I *never* need long pants. I make regular use of a jacket in the colder months, but not long pants.

I live in WNC, but I'm a transplant. People see me going about in shorts year-round, and they ask, "Aren't you cold?"

I tell them, "All winter long, every building I enter is far too warm for me to wear long pants, and I don't spend more than two minutes in any particular parking lot. You people around here don't know what cold is.

"Cold is when you live in Detroit. Ten miles from where you work. And you ride your bicycle every day. All winter long. In forty below wind chills. Now THAT is cold!"

When I have to do outdoor chores, though, then I wear long pants.

Even though I live in Southern California, I always wear more layers of clothes than others. (I am rather conservative, and I get cold easily.)

The winter rains have started in the Pacific North West.

I talked to my father in France today, and they were having supper out on the terrace.

GIVE me my scallop-shell of quiet,

My staff of faith to walk upon,

My scrip of joy, immortal diet,

My bottle of salvation,

My gown of glory, hope's true gage;

And thus I'll take my pilgrimage.

We just had a cold front come through and it's supposed to get up in the 60'sF today. We'll probably be back up in the 80's again soon.

brrrrrrrrrr... :)

well, it will be nice today. it was 70 when we woke up, but now in the 60s and the wind has picked up. Came home to find YM's pool about 15 yards from where it started (Yes, I'd emptied it, the wind isn't *that* strong). :)

So it's wonderful and cloudy, which I love. Probably up near 80 tomorrow but then another "cold" front (usually a misnomer in this area) is due this weekend.

Sorry Roy, but at least maybe this year it won't snow in Texas.

85 today. 83 tomorrow. Typical L.A. autumn and not unseasonably warm for us. The winds have died down and the humidity is heading up so the fire risk has lessened. Good news to be sure. :D
