Advice On A Good Pen 100-150 Euros/$150-$200

I am looking for a handsome, reliable pen that will last and am willing to spend up to about 150 euros, or $200. Do you have any advice? I had a Cross pen that did good service but leaked and the clip came loose (leading me to lose it when it slipped from my shirt pocket). Do you have any recommendations, including for less expensive models? I have been looking at Watermans and like their style and heft.

I hate to say it... but, I have found myself more often than not grabbing my TWSBI Diamond 530 on my way to work.

It was a fairly inexpensive pen, and after doing the paper bag trick on a fine nib... well it is an amazingly good writer!

I would happily point people to that pen. There are others out there that are fantastic (dont get me wrong). But if you want a work horse with excellent balance.... It is pretty hard to beat the TWSBI Diamond 530.

Fast, Cheap, Good... you can choose two.

Check out the Waterman Carene. A real workhorse, sturdy, lasts for years, 18k nib, and beautiful. Much depends on whether you like the inlaid nib. :W2FPN:

Penwriteritalia, welcome.

Are you from Italy?

When not get an italian pen? I recently bought a Delta Profili for £100 from GBA pens in the UK.

It is a lovely pen with a bit of weight.

I suggest you go to a pen shop and have a good browse around and try out a few to see how they feel in your hand.

You didn't say if you wanted a new 'new' pen..........or would you like a vintage pen that will give you amazing writing experience!

Have a look at My link to a wonderland of pens! I would suggest either a vintage Pelikan or a vintage Montblanc - there are many there in your preferred price range!

I would look for a used pen, but probably wouldn't buy it online, I'd need to look it over and heft it. Don't know where to buy used pens in Milan.

I just got myself a Pelikan M600, and it's light but well built. The weight put me off at first, but it's grown on me, and I'm glad that I made the choice. Just heavy enough, but not too light, it's a great pen.
