Pfms

Hi,

I got a request to post a picture of my PFMs. There are too many color and trim combos for me to chase them all. I decided to make it easy on myself and concentrate on the I, II and IV trim versions in black and grey only. The demonstrator fell in my lap...

The empty slot is for a PFM Autograph which I am still hunting. If anybody has one available or knows of one, please send me a PM. :vbg:

When I said nearly complete, I meant to me. The Autograph will do it for me; 8 is enough. I think somebody posted some shots of a truly complete collection - 25+ pens in all five color and trim combos! I'd love to find the thread but FPN doesn't seem to be able to search for 3-letter combos. If anybody knows where to find it, please post the link. And please post of shot of your PFM(s)!

Cheers,

Woody

Nicely done, Woody. The sharp collector knows what he wants and what he doesn't.

For myself, I would like to see a closer shot of the lid....I would like to read the nib-sampler info!!!

Thanks for the comments everybody. It is tough to pick a favorite pen but the PFM is definitely in my top 3. If you are sitting on the fence I say jump off and buy 5! I think I paid around $90 for my first user-grade pen here on FPN. Deals do turn up.

@bigstick: I will try to get a better shot of the box posted. The labels at the end of the slots read: Accountant, Extra Fine, Fine, Shorthand, Med. Fine, Medium, Broad, Stub... in script that approximates the nib sizes. The same script is repeated under the nib images on the top of the box. I don't quite have the full range of nib sizes, but close.

Not sure how you would know the difference between fine, shorthand and med. fine. They look nearly identical and of course the nib size is not marked on the pen... unless they still have the chalk marks.

@alkman: Thanks for the Google search suggestion. It works but I got 5 pages deep and ran out of steam... sure wish I had bookmarked that thread.

I actually just got my very first PFM today in the mail.. a PFM V I bought here. I can already see how you start out with one, and end up with a decent sedan's worth of money putting together a whole collection.

Oh, and I think the link you might be looking for is (was ) here. It's missing the original picture, which has probably expired off of some hosting site. Might PM the poster to see if they still have a pic of the collection.

And searching using Google is the only way to go with PFM searches. I used this Google search and found it on the second page:

site:www.fountainpennetwork.com PFM collection

Once again, great collection you've got!

Wow, Woody! Great collection. I don't have any PFMs myself, but only because I haven't decided which one to chase first (oh, and that pesky money thing lol). Which is the most accessible model to start with ($ wise) in your/anyone's opinion? In the meantime, I can drool over your collection and this:

(found in a catalog archive here: Go Pens Catalog #38 (no affiliation, just an equal opportunity drooler) :puddle: )

#15 is looking familiar...why yes, there it is in my coffee mug, ready to blotch the page with Cape Cod Cranberry...I love my PFM III.

Beautiful set. Good luck on filling that final space.

Good for you in terms of knowing when you've got "enough" of something. Hopefully you take them out for a spin once in a while; they should be used and not just admired.

What kind is #2? I love the slimmer cap on that one and a couple of the others. Looks so sleek!

Number 2 is a PFM II.

Really? I thought it would have been a 5 b/c of the cap. That's cool.

The V has a gold filled cap and also the gold base on the filler button. The II has the chrome trim and cap and the pdAg nib.

Really? I thought it would have been a 5 b/c of the cap. That's cool.

II has a stainless cap and PdAg nib, V has gold-filled cap, gold nib and the little gold shoe on the blind cap. IV is hybrid stainless / gold. Three out of five have the more streamlined cap. I went for a II the first time because a) I don't like gold and B) I thought the plastic capped pens looked like they had fat heads. Then I got a good deal on a I and got over the fat-head thing. Still like the II the best... I've had the black II inked for close to two years now.

I do use 4 out of the 7 regularly. Got scared to mess with the demo after somebody told me what it was worth. Two of the others are NOS but they will get inked when I wear out the first 4 :P .

Thanks to ogwen for posting the Go Pens image. Wow, every issue of that catalog is unreal. Never saw that many PFMs in one issue...

I found the images from the guy who posted the full set on my harddrive. Not sure if it is cool to repost. Thoughts?

Great collection. I'm currently trying to collect all 25. It's easier to tell you what I'm still looking for:

II - Grey & Burgundy

III - Green

IV - Grey, Blue & Green

V - Green & Burgundy

Then I'm done or will I hunt an Autograph and a Demonstrator? :hmm1:
