First Year Pelikan 100

I purchased a first year Pelikan 100 in black at the Ohio Pen Show. It has the heart hole first year nib that was made by Mont Blanc for Pelikan. It is a fine nib. Notice that there are no cap rings. I have it inked with Waterman Florida Blue, my favorite ink. I love writing with the pen.

Congratulations, it's beautiful. What's on the cap engraving?

Cheers,

I love it. Enjoy your beautiful pen, and watch your back. (I'm guessing others will also love it, and they might not observe the same scruples we FPN'ers follow)

Cheers,

The cap top is engraved with the words "Pelikan Patent". The 100's are my favorites.

Great pen - and it's black!

...don't need to mention that I love black Pelikans: my black Pels

I think it's pretty cool that you use this pen. Did you buy it from Rick Propas?

After seeing the photos of your black Pelikan collection it inspired me to expand my collection. Your photography is superb. My pictures were taken with my Blackberry camera so they are not top quality.

I bought it from Rick. I use all of my pens regardless of the price that I paid.

Now we both belong the to the Black Pen Society (BPS)! I have 2-100's in black, the 100N, the Rappen, the Ibis, 2- 140's (gold and silver trim) the 300, the 400, 400NN, M200, M205, M300, M805, and the M1000. I need to buy the 400N, M400, M600 and M800 in black. I collect other colors in Pelikans too.

Thanks for the good advice, although most folks would probably just regard it as plain old black pen.

Sunburst,

I will bring it to our next pen meeting in January. I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Is the barrel made of the correct bakelite material or the later celluloid? If you don't me asking, what was the purchase price?

Seems that we have the same project... I am looking for a black 400N since longer time, but have never seen one. My row ends with the 400NN. I also love the modern Pelikan, but don't collect them. Photographing is for me part of the hobby. Mostly, it needs some time until a new pen is restored and photographed and finally part of the collection. Many pens going through my hands do not reach this point. They will be sold or stored for spare parts.

I was also inspired by your incredible collection of black Pelikans. A magnificent selection.

Thanks. But it seems that specialk0449's collection is even better...

The barrel is bakelite/black band and has a cylindrical cap top.
