I loved American Gods. And Sandman. Absolutely adore Sandman. Also, following AFP and Neil Gaiman on Twitter is hilarious, if you don't do so already. They have conversations on there, which are just so cute.

... More related, and ending my fanboyism, I had no idea he wrote with a fountain pen until I saw that photo — although, I only started paying attention to fountain pens a year ago, when I bought my first. I bought my second just a few days ago ... it's a dangerous step I've taken. Either dangerous or glorious.

Never become complacent.

He's got a lot. He's said that if he weren't a writer, he'd like to run a pen store.

He writes his drafts with FPs and occasionally mentions which ones.

"But my favourite fountain pen of all (the one I'm mostly writing Anansi Boys with) is an 80 or 90 year old Waterman Ideal; I like the shape and feel of it, and the way the nib moves across the paper; it makes beautiful marks. Of modern pens, I like the feel of the Lamy 2000, although it's a writing-a-novel sort of pen, not a signing-your-name pen."

That's awesome! I loved his Sandman series. I should pick up American Gods some time and read it.

NG rules, yet I cannot understand how he puts up with a Lamy

The voice of this guitar of mine, at the awakening of the morning, wants to sing its joy;

I sing to your volcanoes, to your meadows and flowers, that are like mementos of the greatest of my loves;

If I am to die away from you, may they say I am sleeping, and bring me back home.

He's courting forefinger-knuckle problems - that's a ballpoint grip.

I know that shop. It is called 'Papier Plume' and is on Royal Street in the French Quarter, New Orleans.

I'll be down there in a week.

A wonderful novel, one of my favorites. If you enjoy it you may want to pick up Anansi Boys next.

That is me behind the counter. Wonderful people and it was a delight to sell him that day a Cleo Skribent Fountain pen. If you have not seen these pens, they are affordable and a good value. In the picture, you can see the Papier Plume Inks. Most of the items you see here are probably still available. I say probably, because I no longer work there, but if you are in New Orleans and you like Fountain Pens, then you definitely should go in and visit Papier Plume. Don't worry if you do not have all of your money ready for buying pens. Look around. See what they offer and then when you are ready to buy, pay their website a visit and buy it. If it is not on the website, describe it to Patrick or Robin and you should be able to buy your wanted item.

<3 Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer, they are so...DIFFERENT...yet so accessible. I love them for the way they engage with their fans and followers on Twitter. And Neil is one of my top five favorite authors. I am currently reading Absolute Sandman, Vol 1. By the way, if you've not listed to his books that he himself narrates, they are great. He adds SO much to the story through his inflection and totally delightful voice.

Yes, I am a shameless fangirl, haha!

I have been a real fanboy with him since late '80s, then when he "quit" comics I've read American Gods and some other stuff but found that he lost something. I'm delighted that he uses FPs for writing his novels, but I wish he got back to the conviction and power he put in works like "Violent Cases", "Sandman" or "Signal To Noise". I've also followed him for some time and while I truly appreciate his being down to earth I got fed up with his childish exchanges with mrs. Gaiman...

I read somewhere that Neil Gaiman loves his Lamy 2000, and considers it a "novel-writing" pen. Love his work, the Sandman-saga is a heavily inspiration on my writing and it's fun to know that you're writing with one of your favorite author's models. :cloud9:
